Well I love the fact that in this digital age, songwriters can release their new material within weeks of the original idea which for me was approximately 5 weeks ago. This song was inspired by the sudden life threatening health issue that was discovered out of the blue and man did my life’s perspective instantly change. This song kept haunting me and begged to be written. Not knowing my long term future was, I went into my studio and with Michael McLean’s help, “I’ll Let Roy’s Song Carry Me Home” became my potential “Happy Trails” song. At this point, the real life ending is a lot happier than the song’s ending but I love when real life becomes art. Thank you all for the support!

Some day, for some reason, it will end, as everything does.
So rather than wait to play particular songs in a Theme, or finding a reason to play them, I have decided to go for myself and just play them because I want to!
These are Favorites of mine encountered over the many years I've been listening to Music, and some may be just Guilty Pleasures on my part.
Included in this opening half are some what I named "Rock Me Out Bed Songs".
Because they literally would do just that, lol!

The Muse steered me a little Folkie at the beginning, and I wanted to play the two Best Songs I have ever heard about Old People.
And then I went on about the joys and adventures we used to have playing the Flip Side of Singles.
This was a nice diversion show for me, just playing songs I've always liked for no other reason than that I've always liked them.
But even here, my mind seems to make Musical Connections on its own.
Honestly, I think Themes are what I do best!
So I will continue to do Themes, and periodically return to Playing Favorites, even Guilty Ones.

Well it only took many years, but I finally realized in time to do something about it!
A show that has been bouncing around in my head for all those years, dedicated to the Kentucky Derby coming this Saturday.
So there will be much horsing around, and even imbibing in that famous Traditional Beverage.
There are some listeners who think along with me in these Free-Form Radio ventures.
And I am sure they figure there is a Rolling Stones song I HAVE to play.
I am going to throw them and everybody else a surprising curveball with that one, lol!
Something you may never have known about regarding that Classic Song.
Plus I have the chance to play a song I have always loved- exquisite in its open-to-interpretation symbolism- that goes far beyond merely catching a Horse.
And we are only at the Halfway Marker- with a Photo Finish still to come.

As we conclude our Musical Kentucky Derby , I know a horse I would bet on but he is for a very good reason not on the field, not a contender.
Then I'll play a couple of songs that are not only about Horses, but RACEHORSES!
What’s that expression, “You can lead a horse to water, but…”?
Followed by a song that seems to bring out strong emotions in people, both for and against.
Finally, and all out of breath, I will leave you with a perfectly named song that was # 2 on the charts in 1968.

The comedic duo of Bob Elliott and Ray Goulding first appeared on radio in 1946 for WHDH in Boston. In July of 1951 they joined NBC’s full network with two shows. One was a daily-morning show, and another was a sixty-minute primetime show. With radio audiences leaving for television and NBC’s bouncing both programs around its schedule, both shows achieved only mediocre success. 

Bob and Ray next appeared on Saturday Mornings for NBC’s Monitor and In October of 1955 they joined the Mutual Broadcasting System for a 45 minute weekday disc jockey series. That lasted until September 20th, 1957.

By the time they joined CBS radio on June 29th, 1959 the team had refined their spoof-character approach. One famous character was the bumbling reporter Wally Ballou. Voiced by Bob Elliott, in 1963 Wally was reporting from down in the new "quiet" subway in New York.
