"Running down impossible meanders and bends, the slope of the Spree guides me on a suprasensory journey. The selector is standing on a terrace by the river bed. From the water I observe how he makes each choice; he carefully picks the best vinyl possible, like a harvester does as he plucks the sweetest grapes before putting them in the barrel. He blows the miniscule specks of pollen away, but the static electricity doesn’t make it an easy task. People go back and forth on the swings that hang from the majestic plane trees and dirty feet engage in tribal dancing. I've been talking to the water for 25 hours and I don't want the journey to end."

André Pahl (@andrepahl)(Berlin) is known for his Safari mixes—pitched down cinematic journeys through uncharted seas, forbidden deserts and distant galaxies. His sound tends to oscillate between psychedelic trips, spaced out electronics and voodoo percussion, exploring the slowed-down heartbeat of danceable music. Listening to André Pahl’s sets is like being compelled to push yourself inside a forest even though you know it'll be dangerous — head first, then the whole body, submerged deep into a strange jungle world, partly solid, partly made of shimmering liquids.

If SHöK01 was the dark night, then this brings us the dawn - tugging at thememories of blissed out festival sunrises, greeting the equinox as the light hits standing stones. This is music that knows where it came from, crystalline synth formations and acid-fried dub bass that hint to the warehouses of Detroit and the M25 Circular - an ecstatic, eternal rhythmic drive bypassing the brain and going straight for the guts.

Out last week on Bytes; It All Levels Out, is album no 10 from Minotaur Shock, aka the Bristolianelectronic multiinstrumentalist/producer David Edwards. The album is a hopeful meditation on getting older and Edwards’s most personal and reflective album yet.
