'Colombia's Noise Mafia is all set for a breakout year. Hailing from Bogotá, they have already had huge support for their tunes from the likes of Charlie Sparks, I Hate Models and Sara Landry. And it's not hard to hear why - they are big, bouncy, bright collisions of rave, techno, trance and hard dance that bring plenty of character and a wide array of references from myriad sub-genres across the global electronic spectrum.

Ahead of them playing at our epic annual Terminal V Festival in April, we catch up with the artist to reflect on the last 12 months, look ahead to 2024, discuss the state of electronic music back home and talk about how Noise Mafia's sounds are always subtly evolving.'

Our first show in Copenhagen in 8 years was a dizzying showcase of the city's love for hard and heady techno with Vel, David Löhlein and DJ Swisherman.

'Berlin protagonist Afem Syko brings plenty of colour to techno - not only with his music, but his look and his personality. He is something of an antidote to days gone by when those in the scene preferred to be clad in all black and maintain a moody look in their press shots. He is comfortable celebrating his individuality and encouraging his dancers to do the same, not least with the music he drops on labels like Amelie Lens's EXHALE and Kobosil's R Label Group.

Here we hear from him about how he first got into electronic music, why techno is the right vehicle for his creativity and how he likes to approach and structure his DJ sets. For a taste of the results, stick on this week's mix, which is a blistering trip through his current sound.'
