Iain's correct to call her a bigot. You can't hide your homophobia behind religion.

A bigot is defined as one who is intolerant to another's ideas. The lawyer's main point was trashed, she was talked down repeatedly and then told that she didn't have the right to freedom of speech. Just remind us who exactly is the "bigot".

This is bullying. Why is he entitled to an opinion and she is not. This woman is speaking kindly yet he is bashing her as if she is terrorist. Why is he concerned about being called a sinner when he does not believe in God? She points out that God loves everyone regardless of his or her sin.  He has the right not to believe in what she believes in. He is speaking down on this woman and calling her names. Is he not preaching about his own belief?  She is saying everyone is a sinner. She is not dictating what sin is. She is quoting the bible. Is he suggesting that she only believes part of the bible?  This woman did not ask for people of any type of sin to be persecuted or tortured. She is not judging. That is God's job. She did not use her own words to insult anyone. Why is he so angry?  Is this about his friends? He is not coming out with what is really bothering him. I would have expected that he would have just laughed it off since he does not take religion serious.

It's a shame he got a bit too keen to shut her down. His points were totally valid & her responses were sneaky & deceitful but she ended up looking more reasonable than him even tho she wasn't. Still its a bit extreme to sack him over it. Makes me suspicious. Who controls his bosses???

The Klu Klux Klan hide behind the word of god for their hatred of Blacks, Jews, Gays etc. This is no different. However Iain could of managed the conversation differently. She would of come accross as closed minded and biggoted anyway. A basic mistake from and experienced braadcaster, but he shouldn't of been sacked.

Arrogant, overblown, contemptuous, dumbed down, obnoxious, little man .  Bullying a woman that has been invited on to the air for the sick amusement of his audience. Basically Jeremy Kyle for dummies.

people don't like Christianity, Iain, because they love their sin and do not want to be told God calls them to repent.

BBC Three Counties Radio and Iain Lee have said sorry after complaints were received about an interview on homosexuality.

The conversation with Libby Powell, from campaign group Christian Concern on November 3rd got heated which ended up with Iain Lee saying prison worker Revd Barry Trayhorn was “obnoxious” and “poisonous”.


Trayhorn is taking his employer to a tribunal amid claims he was forced to resign for reading a Bible verse about homosexuality.

When Ms Powell said homophobia was a fear Mr Lee said it was a “cute answer” but homophobia was a “hatred of gays”.

The eight minute interview was at 6.15am on November 3rd, as the first item on Iain’s weekday breakfast show.

A statement from senior editorial staff told Premier Christian Radio: “The BBC – and Iain Lee himself – wish to apologise for any offence that may have been caused.” Iain Lee apologised on air and said: “Last week I interviewed the Revd Barry Trayhorn and solicitor Libby Powell about their understanding of biblical teaching on homosexuality.

“I want to make it clear that I apologise for any offence that may have been caused over the way I conducted the interviews.”
