From December 2nd to 13th, The boys and girls club is hosting their annual 12 Days of Christmas, a program that distributes a warm holiday meal and gift to over 1200 children and youth from the London community.
There is still time to make a donation towards this program and the club is also still in need of a few volunteers to help out each evening...

On September 12th it was Saturday Night Football as the Western Mustangs went on the road to beat the Laurier Golden Hawks 59-9. The broadcast was live from Knight-Newbrough Field at University Stadium in Waterloo, Ontario with John Urban and Steve Kopp taking you through the game, along with Dan Soden in the studio.

On Saturday November 7th the Western Mustangs (8-0) hosted the Laurier Golden Hawks (4-4)in the OUA Semi-Finals from TD Stadium in London, Ontario.  Western had previously beaten Laurier 59-9 in the regular season, but the Golden Hawks showed that they were not the same team.  Giving the Mustangs their toughest game of the year, but still Western came away with the win 32-18.  This broadcast has John Urban and Drew Caspi taking you through the action, with Dan Soden in the studio.

On Saturday November 14th the Western Mustangs (8-0) hosted the Guelph Gryphons (7-1) in the 108th Yates Cup from TD Stadium in London, Ontario.  In one of the most entertaining football games you could ask for, it literally came down to the last play of the game and 10 yards.  Guelph would escape Western with the 23-17 win for the Championship.  This broadcast has Steve Kopp and John Urban taking you through the action, Karl Nacion on sidelines and with Dan Soden in the studio.

108th Yates Cup - Western vs Guelph

On Saturday November 28th the Western Mustangs women's hockey team battled the #1 Nationally ranked Guelph Gryphons.  It was the second time these teams faced off against each other, as Guelph had beat Western 3-0 earlier in the season.  It took 70 minutes of hockey (4 on 4 OT and 3 on 3 OT) and a shootout to decide a winner, with Western pulling out the 3-2 victory.  This broadcast was live from Thompson Arena on the campus of Western University with John Urban and Matt Labatt taking you through the action, Dan Soden in the studio.

On Thursday January 14th it was the 7th annual Frosty Mug, as the Western Mustangs men's hockey team took on the Guelph Gryphons. This broadcast was live from the Sleeman Centre in downtown Guelph, Ontario with over 3,400+ in attendance it was an entertaining and physical affair.  John Urban and Steve Kopp taking you through the action, 3rd member of the crew in Drew Caspi and Dan Soden in the studio.  Unfortunately due to technical difficulties, this broadcast was done via mobile device.

On Saturday February 6th the Western Mustangs men's basketball team were at home to play the Laurentian Voyageurs.  This broadcast was streamed live on CHRW2 (www.chrwradio.ca/2) from Alumni Hall on the campus of Western university.  With Greg Campbell and Karl Nacion taking you through the action, Stefan Knezevic court-side and Dan Soden in the studio.

On this episode of Purple Profiles, host Richard Raycraft sits down with Faculty of Information and Media Studies professor Warren Steele.

Throughout his time at Western, Steele has made an impression on his students through his teaching. He teaches courses on literature and technology, the intersection of technology and culture, and race and technology.

Though he's won many teaching awards, Steele is part-time and on contract. In 2014, along with other faculty members at Western, Steele protested precarious work, lack of benefits, and low pay for teaching staff at Western.

Pierre-Paul Dorelien is a hopeful Mustang recruit who is from Vaudreil, Quebec. He currently plays for John Abbott College in the CEGEP, and is a defensive lineman. He talks with Greg Bowman about his football life so far, and how joining Western would be keeping a family tradition.

CAMPUS:

-Western University is calling on the people of London and the area to help document the local history of the coronavirus pandemic as it happens.
-The university  hopes will show future generations what life was like during the COVID-19 lockdown

- Jacqueline Keuper, MSC’17, is pursuing a doctorate in Epi-demi-ology & Biostatistics and Computer Science – the first Western student to study two different fields for one Ph.D.

LOCAL:
- The provincial government of London allowed retail stores to open Monday for curbside pickup, only if there is street access to the store. But in London, there is very little sign of that happening in the first few days.

-Out of a total of 456 COVID-19 cases in London, 299 people have recovered but people have to maintain social distancing and all necessary precautions, say MLHU experts.

-Actor, Ryan Reynolds bought pizza for every graduate from his old school
The actor, who’s proud of the fact he was born and raised in Vancouver, British Columbia, delivered an at-home commencement speech for students graduating from his former high school, Kitsilano Secondary School last Friday. In addition to the speech, he offered to buy pizza for the school’s 385 grads.

SPORTS:

-The NBA will open practice facilities to players on May 8 in cities and states where local governments have eased stay-at-home orders according to their official website. This decision, according to previous reports, does not mean the league is closer to resuming the season.

-The Professional Golfers Association (PGA) Tour plans to resume its schedule in the second week of June, with the first four events, beginning with the first round of the Charles Schwab Challenge at Colonial in Fort Worth, Texas, on June 11, to be played without fans in attendance.

INTERNATIONAL:

-Musicians in Nigeria are maintaining physical distance as they play outdoor shows for healthcare workers and patients. 
-A 101-year-old woman who survived the Spanish flu just recovered from the coronavirus

WEATHER:

-Expect the maximum temperature to be 11’C and the minimum around 3’C today. It will be a sunny day with a cool breeze in the evening.
