My DJ set from Rainbow Serpent Festival - which is one of my favourite festivals occuring over the Australian summer. This was such a high energy set, and the dancefloor was absolutely amazing to witness. It's a mix of dancehall, uptempo reggae and bass electronic tunes with quite a few original productions thrown in, including some as-yet-unreleased cuts on the Kalonji Riddim featuring Burro Banton and Junie Platinum(check out http://www.bornaking.com/). Other artists featured include Stylo G, Liquid Stranger, Skarramucci, Randy Valentine, Sizzla, Turbulence, Tarrus Riley, Benny Page, Chase & Status, Cutty Ranks, Busy Signal & many more.

Massive shout out to my friend and MC Di Apprentice, who absolutely tore up the stage during this show - but unfortunately his mic line was not recorded from the front of house and so can't be heard here. Also a shout out to Jesse I and the Chant Down crew who played a solid roots set just before me, and Stickybuds (Canada) who played a wicked dancehall & breaks set straight after me. A special thanks to Andrew Schudmak & the crew at Rainbow Serpent for making it happen! Awesome as always.

On the west bank of the Ganges, in the ancient city of Varanasi, the fire has been burning for thousands of years.
The most sacred place in the world for Hindus, the city of Shiva. it is believed that if a person's ashes are scattered here, then his soul will eventually reach nirvana: Moksha (the definitive release from the perpetual cycle of rebirth) .Harishchandra Ghat (named for a legendary king) is one of the two ghats burning of Varanasi and the energy that reigns on this shore a deep serenity, devoid of any forced reverence, the atmosphere here is not that of sorrow, because the mourners laugh, chat and play cards as and when funerary preparations, body wrapped in a shroud are carried on bamboo stretchers in the narrow alleyways to be cremated there and children play a game of cricket through the lumps of wood waiting for the flames, families sneak between stacks of wood collected for burning bodies; Some are here to watch while drinking tea, others are here to meditate in front of the flames, to smoke on a chilom, to talk to some babas
of life and death, old sadhous, hermits or itinerants having renounced the material world to attain spiritual liberation, and living both outside and among society. The Sadhous aghori are so scared of death that they cover themselves with ashes and burn in skulls ... The site of Varanasi is a hive of activity. A city that has never slept for more than 5000 years
