Calm, clever and melancholic: short after exploring emotional territories on his debut album "Even Tundra" on Twisted Records, Benji Vaughan prepared a very special mix for the radiOzora listeners showcasing the best of downtempo electronica he produced over the last 10 years. We are airing it from 12th October, Saturday evening 5pm CET.
Benjamin Vaughan or as most of us know him, Benji is the mind behind the Prometheus project, with Simon Posford they are Younger Brother and for those who didn't know that: he used to be part of legendary The Zap! with Raja Ram as well. After three Prometheus and three Younger Brother studio LPs his recent album called "Even Tundra" - released in September on Twisted Records - is one of his most innovative and surprising releases to date. While Younger Brother's musical output was always more varied than that of the psychedelic trance and chill-out alterego Prometheus (ranging from psybient to progressive breakbeat and instrumental music), "Even Tundra" by Benji Vaughan is not like anything he ever made before.
Calm and melancholic, clever bass-driven electronic music not really meant to make you dance, but make you feel - "Even Tundra" is a real delicatessen in the psytrance world. From enchanting chill-out to breakbeat driven downtempo or glitchy electronica it is a versatile collection of electronic music where organic sounds pair up with raw industrial effects, aetherial vocals and enchanting melodies. To present you the new material Benji included a few tracks from "Even Tundra" in his radiOzora mix together with the best of his downbeat music of the past 10 years but also mixed in his cover version of Radiohead's hit "Everything in its right place" made together with Youth.
