Finally and again on our way to the much-awaited Ozorian reunion, this first episode featuring the artists we can expect in the Valley in 2022 presents Render. Render is the psytrance project by Ricky Casero, also known as Frequency Less (Psybreaks/ Downtempo). His unique psy style is a mix of passionate body moving fullon, wisely blended with night atmospheres and rolling bass lines. Unexpected combinations of catchy vocals and acid funky sounds make the journey super energetic and fluid for the dancer, without missing the soul and essence of the psytrance self-exploring experience. Michael Abel-Larsen, known as DJ Banel or Michael Banel, hails from Copenhagen and is a founder and co-owner of the legendary Iboga Records, IbogaTech and Sofa Beats labels. 

With a DJ career starting in 1988, his musical journey has travelled through more than three decades, countless countries and an unimaginable number of stages. From the early acid house era of the 80s to founding Iboga in the 90s and now, Banel has been at the forefront of trends in the electronic scene since the early days to whip dance floors into a frenzy around the world.

Today you can find Banel dropping either massive techno bangers or destroying dance floors with thumping progressive trance sets. Whichever style you choose, though, one feature of his performances remains the same: expertly crafted arrangements take rapturous listeners through the peaks and troughs of the genre on a musical journey to elation.

One of the international scene’s established taste-makers, Banel’s access to the freshest sounds and sense for ‘the next big thing’ has taken him around the globe from the dusty outback of Australia to the hot deserts of Israel, from the beaches of Mexico to the ice-cold midpoint of Russia and beyond. Driven by pure passion for the music and the scene, there is no sign of Banel slowing down any time soon.

Banel is also one half of the duo MVMB, releasing the full-length album The Sleeper Must Awaken on Iboga in 2016 and the follow-up Phase 01 in 2019, released on Ibogatech.

We took to the Pumpui Stage for our 6th consecutive appearance.  After a pandemic driven sojourn - The energy by the Saturday night was immense and gave us our most enjoyable ever live set at the festival.  Big up's to the Ozora & Pumpui crews for being massively supportive over the years and giving us this wonderful platform to play our music on.

Martin Vice & Iboga label head Michael Banel joined forces in 2014 to form a new DJ / Production concept. Their self titled collaboration MVMB delivers a slick and original new sound that effortlessly explores the boundaries between techno and progressive psy-trance. The duo are able to perform two kinds of sets, one oriented towards techno and one towards progressive trance.

The MILES FROM MARS duo is On the Way to Ozora 2023 too! Miles from Mars is a hard-hitting combo of two of Cape Town’s finest electronic beat-makers, Max Kibble & Shane Renew. With over 20 years of combined production and DJing experience, these two have rocked festivals across the country and abroad, and brought their brand of mayhem to many dance floors this side of the Solar System. Shane has been delivering gut punches of energy since apes became bipedal, and when Maximilian isn’t curating festivals, you can find him snake-charming crowds with the grooviest of techno sets.The result of such a merger of power can only be described as a sonic hybrid, channeled by off-world entities. Miles from Mars sees these two sonic shamans join forces, to create a new breed of techno, fuelled by groovy leads and pounding, world-destroying bass lines. They have a unique take on a fitting soundtrack for a dystopian revolution. This Miles From Mars Live Set 2023 contains all original tracks written by the duo, including some unreleased material they are saving for their tour in Australia and Ozora later this year.
