David Phoenix is a Hungarian DJ/Producer based in Vienna. Being on the abstract side of the techno and minimal world, his music offers a dark driving flow, built into structured patterns. David's continuous productivity makes him a fast growing artist in the scene and his productions have been published on many respected labels. He launched the Monthly Darkness podcast series in 2020, promoting the newest releases and forthcoming tracks.

Here's this month's episode from the "Deep down the rabbit hole" series by Hungarian DJ and "Budapest In The Dark" founder, DJ Seldon, now showcasing a guest mix from FREDDY HETZINGER. Freddy Hetzinger is a well known DJane from Germany whose sound and sets are always driving, dark, dirty and with a big portion of psytech. Growing up in a family of musicians and experiencing the Stuttgart rave scene as a teen, Freddy Hetzinger was inspired by the groove and energy of electronic music and started DJing in 2000. In the following years she was part of several projects and received numerous bookings all over Germany. From 2007-2014 she was part of the legendary ToY Club in Stuttgart! In 2012 she founded the label Mischkonsum Records together with Sashliq and started producing her own tracks. In 2016 she started her own sublabel mikofh where the focus is on 4 to the floor functional minimal techno! At the end of 2018 she left Mischkonsum Records and put all her energy in new releases, new collabs with several artists, new bookings, and she found her new home at Occultech Recordings..

DJ Seldon’s series, ‘Deep Down Rabbit Hole’, this month presents the mighty HEFTY with a hypnotic mix built up from his own tracks. From a serial killer's basement, somewhere in London UK, Hefty has pioneered the darkside since 2010. Undoubtedly the preeminent master of darker sounds, skillfully preparing you for the impending apocalypse with his unique style. After over 2 years of this growing support from his friends, peers and fans, Hefty was inspired to create his own label: Darker Sounds, focused solely on showcasing underground dark techno and minimal. Unafraid to constantly refine and evolve his style, Hefty has since ventured into the world of psychedelic trance, using his Techno production techniques to create his own style of dark, driving psytrance. He created his own psychedelic label "Erebos Records" - a platform for releasing the darkest psy trance from the best undiscovered artists from around the world. This psychedelic adventure then lead Hefty to start producing his own version of downtempo / chillout music, which he calls Dark Tek. Now armed with a trifecta of genres, Hefty is on track to further cement his reputation as an unstoppable force in the realm of dark techno, minimal and psychedelia.

In this episode Seldon invites you "deep down the rabbit hole" with CUBEX. Born and grown up in Switzerland , Cubex discovered his interest in electronic music early and started DJ’ing at the age of 17. Only a short time later his interest became more intense and transformed into passion for Drum&Bass and Techno. In the following years Cubex gained experience playing at local and national events. In parallel, he promoted his own event series and cofounded the Drum&Bass label “Perkussiv Music”. At the age of 30 the urge to make the next step got the upper hand. As a consequence, Cubex took a leave as a promoter and started producing in 2010. The style of Cubex stands for creative and daring beat combinations reflecting his musical roots and his personality. He combines rhythmic and driving House and Techno beats with hypnotic, psychedelic and dark atmospheres from the realms of Psytrance and Drum&Bass. Cubex’s productions are unmistakably his own and timeless. He himself describes his music as "deep and twisted Psy-Techno".

Ages later, he found darkpsy on Freqs of Nature, MO:DEM, Master of Puppets, Fusion, etc. F.i.e.t.e established his first darkpsy project in 2018, which focuses on progressive, psychedelic darkpsy. Sources of endless Inspiration are for him: Kliment, Breger, NOID, Radioactive.Cake, Brojanowski, Hefty, DJ Golanski, DeKai, Skallen, Dark Side, Pad Zadik, Noctusense, Tarti, pHaSenVerScHiEbunG and many more... From Deep Down the Rabbit Hole, Seldon presents GIANCARLO DI CHIARA. With his old alias DJ Pin, he begins to mix music in 2002 and plays in various clubs with important international DJs like Tony Humphries, Marshall Jefferson, Justin Berkmann or Italian DJ Noferini. After stopping DJing in 2004, he comes back into the music world only in 2016, starts studying music, releasing his first tracks. In 2018 he launches his first label Music4Aliens (from where most of the tracks of this mix came from), bringing his label into the ranking of the best labels. Later the Music4Aliens family grows with the creation of Music4Clubbers, Music4Aliens Black and Psy4Aliens, covering all techno and psychedelic genres. In September 2021 he creates his side project AKA the Alien. After several top 100 releases with his own name, in 2022 he starts to dedicate more time to music production, collecting the first top 100 peak track chart on Beatport with his last single "Alone in the Darkness", and all the faster techno charts with his alias AKA the Alien. In 2023 he plans to be more active in the scene as a DJ. Forced to refuse several shows over the years, he came back as a DJ at the Music4Aliens Label Night 2022 in August (Italy).

Seldon presents Deep Down the Rabbit Hole with guest mix by KOZY (AlpaKa Muzik). KOZY aka Jeff Koz is a Montreal-based DJ & Entrepreneur specialising in dark & groovy underground techno music. KOZY's dedication to music is evident in his tight mixes, solid track selection and inclination towards groovy synths and heavy, disruptive bass. He is the founder of AlpaKa Productions, an event production company which has been responsible for maintaining and catering to Montreal's underground electronic music culture by organising massive high quality events featuring local and international artists. In 2019, he founded AlpaKa MuziK, a Montreal-based record label pushing world-class underground progressive, minimal and psychedelic techno beats. With releases from some of the biggest names in the game, AlpaKa MuziK is on its way to become a major player in the underground techno community. In 2021, he founded Groove & Bass Festival in collaboration with Fusion Projects. He also started a new event project in Mexico called Dark Matter, in collaboration with Madabeats Records. He just finished his first tour in Europe, performing 14 gigs in 10 countries between November and December 2022 and is currently touring Australia in Spring 2023.

This episode Deep Down the Rabbit Hole brings ALPHAKEY (Marci in real life) whose passion for music formed way back in his childhood when he began to play the guitar at the age of 7. After years of partying he started experimenting with mixing his favourite tracks and later on he envisioned his dj project called Alphakey. He emerged in Budapest’s psy parties at around early 2016 with his sets that are always adapted to the occasion, time and mood. Besides the major parties and festivals in Hungary he had the chance to play in the UK and in Transylvania as well. It's no surprise that his ability to fuse all these elements together to create something almost entirely new has gained him the support worldwide. Seldon presents this edition of Deep Down the Rabbit Hole with a guest mix from ALGIA.  Algia is predominantly known for his Dark Techno style. He has performed sets all over his home country of Hungary, and has spent the last few years perfecting this genre. He has a second passion however, the dark side of psychedelic music, and wouldnt miss an opportunity to play some Dark Prog at a party if the opportunity was there. He has now decided to produce his own style of Dark Prog, influenced by the music he has heard at various parties, using the production techniques he has learned in the past few years. Algia produces dark progressive trance with swampy dark soundscapes, deep low basslines and heavy driving beats. In 2021 he joined Erebos Records, and Another Psyde records in the same year.

This episode was mixed by SELDON to celebrate the 2nd Bday of the "Deep Down the Rabbit Hole" series. Seldon was born in 1978 in Budapest, Hungary. As he was surrounded by music from the early age, it determined his addiction to sound. He met the real techno sounds in the mid 90s at the roots of the Hungarian underground (FMK, Faklya, Patex etc). He started DJing also in this period. Seldon created the "Budapest in the Dark" project in 2011 to introduce dark minimal and psy/techno fusion to the local scene. His complex sounds are built from techno and minimal spiced up with psychedelia. He is an active and forward thinking member of the European minimal music community and he is also building strong links with Latin-America and Mexico. In the 2020s he joined the Darth Frog Collective to deliver the Zenonesque and psytech sounds to Hungarian scene.
