Battle Theme

I love this show, it's got some great characters, entertaining stories, just the right amount of absurdity and a lot of heart. It's also got a wonderful soundtrack, courtesy of the talented duo of Aivi & Surasshu, whose jazz piano + chiptune style has some interesting parallels to my own metal + orchestra approach. So here's my tribute to the wonderful music of Steven Universe, a 12 minute whirlwind tour of Steven's world done in my usual Symphonic Metal style. Translating some of this music led me in some rather odd directions, but I had a lot of fun doing this :)

Honestly, I loved Tower of Mistakes so much when it first came out, but it's only problems were that it was too short, and that it maybe could be more complex.  Then lo and behold, Lady Melody (DeDe) comes out with a beautiful remake including Pearl-inspired harmonies and The L-Train comes out with an extended version shortly after that, so of course I just had to combine them!

I did not compose, perform, or record any of this song. All credit goes to Rebecca Sugar, Jeff Liu, aivi & surasshu, and any other members of the Crewniverse who worked on this song. The covers incorporated were originally written and recorded by Lady Melody (DeDe) and The L-Train.
