Sung joyously at Rena Branson's "Queer Nigun Circle" in a living room in Philadelphia, PA, Winter 2020 before we all couldn't sing together anymore. Recorded with no edits, some silence, giggles, and tweets.

Baby Bird Nigun

Nigun (a wordless melody from the Jewish tradition) written on the banks of the Washougal River in so-called Washington state. Ancestral lands of the Cowlitz tribe and Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde. From what I can tell, "Washougal" is a Native word meaning "rushing waters". If you have any other information about the original stewards of this land and river, please let me know!
