Not As Bad As They Say

New song recorded tonight. Things are what they are.. on the melancholy side.... which i'm prone to wallow in from time to time.

It has come to my attention that I haven't put my pen to paper for a while
I've been burning scented candles that suggested fields of roses for so long
and I've lately come to realize the simple reason for my lack of candor
and the soil of sordid life reveals the blameless grief left floating in the breeze
I opted out of bowing low for fear that I might make a wrenching scene

show me how I have fallen short read to me the judgement of the court
but be careful as you're coming down you're falling from the same high ground
it all comes back around

I thank god sometimes for time alone with cheap guitars and cheaper brands of wine
I avoid my past discrepancies and present time inequities like plague
and it for these very reasons that I held my tongue and stared into the sky
and stole time alone in selfishness for fear without that I might lose my mind
has my silence said enough for you today
you might think you've had it rough sometimes and want to say

Im well aware of failure as Im constantly reminded of it in the mail
and the boat that we were sailing is the one in need of bailing suddenly
have I suddenly become some different soul
and did you become the innocent that fell into the resulting hole
is it such a shocking revelation after all
made to get up off our feet before we lean to crawl

I wrote the flute part for a friend. In this case it is played with midi.  The harp is played with a little celtic harp.
