I have always loved this song. Hendrix was such an incredibly intuitive and inventive guitar player and great songwriter; he didn't hold a strat, it grew out of his soul. This is a sketch of one of his beautiful thoughts. It's not meant to be a facsimile, it's just meant to refresh a memory, a little tiny bit of the wonder of the prophetic and charming voodoo chile. I made this few years back as a kind of exercise and as I worked the song versus the production Genesis did, I realized this song has amazing basslines that are never really appreciated... so I reworked the instrumentation and mix to allow the bass-line to be a feature.
 
This is a tribute not an attempt to rip them off and maybe to expose a newer generation to an amazing sometimes forgotten earlier version before Peter Gabriel left and Phil Collin's became an unlikely God... I present one of the higher points of the progressive rock movement...
