I spend my spare days writing songs instead of a diary

Eyes

Far beyond the known world lies Eloria, an ancient realm once protected by the spirits of the wind. Among golden dunes and whispering stones stood a temple, carved from pale sandstone, devoted to the harmony between humankind and nature.

But the wind has changed. The sandstorms no longer carry only dust—they carry forgetting. The last of the sand oracles, a priestess named Aelira, senses the fading of her world. With the last strength of her voice and soul, she sends out a plea—a musical invocation to the ancient elements. Not a cry of despair, but a fragile thread of hope. She doesn’t want Eloria to vanish in silence. She wants someone to remember.

Her song rises over the dunes, intertwines with the wind, blends with the drifting sands—and becomes part of the desert itself. To this day, if you listen closely, you might still hear it: the whisper of Eloria’s Plea.

The Floating Island is a metaphor for the challenging goal of achieving peace among all humans, and a respectful relationship with nature throughout our world.

Reminiscence – The Gentle Return
Sometimes the heaviest moments are the quiet ones.
When a single piano speaks louder than any voice,
not with words, but with the aching stillness left behind.

Reminiscence is the sound of looking back,
of revisiting the empty chair, the quiet room,
the laughter that once filled it – now just an echo.
It’s not a cry for comfort, but a slow exhale of memory.

This piece doesn’t try to escape the sorrow.
It walks beside it – unafraid, tender, honest.
Because some things cannot be forgotten.
They live on in sound, in silence, in the spaces between the notes.

Performed entirely on the Bechstein  –
a grand piano from EastWest, known for its haunting intimacy.
Its velvety resonance and delicate detail bring life to the sadness,
like a whispered goodbye that lingers in the air.
Every nuance was shaped by human hands – with reverence, with grief.

Manchmal sind es die stillsten Augenblicke, die am schwersten wiegen.
Wenn ein einziges Piano lauter spricht als jede Stimme –
nicht mit Worten, sondern mit dem Schmerz,
den nur die Abwesenheit kennt.

Reminiscence ist ein Blick zurück.
Zu dem leeren Stuhl. Dem stillen Raum.
Dem Lachen, das einmal darin lebte –
nun nur noch Erinnerung, verhallt im Nichts.
Dieses Stück sucht keinen Trost.
Es atmet die Trauer – langsam, behutsam, aufrichtig.

Denn manche Verluste verblassen nicht.
Sie bleiben – in einem Klang, in der Stille,
in dem, was zwischen den Tönen unausgesprochen bleibt.

Sue is the very embodiment of humanity. Kind, selfless, giving, loving, unassuming, warm, smiling, understanding. Were you lucky enough ever to meet Sue, you’d never know that she carries a heavy burden carefully, and gently tucked away in a very private place within her heart.

This song is for Sue, and all mothers who, like her, have lost a son in the most tragic of circumstances, with no opportunity to help, hold, comfort or say goodbye."

In life we sometimes only have a few, if any, really close friends.
A close friend is someone you can talk to and not feel as if you're imposing on their time with your most intimate conversations.
God knows I can talk too much sometimes.
That reality has been made even more significant when that friend is a fellow musician who shares your musical ideas and taste's.
David is a true artist and composer who has been through thick and thin with me.
I owe him so much for being my friend through all these years.
He played masterful guitar on this track adding the glue that made it stick to the mood we created.

Rafael Vernet is a classically trained pianist from Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. He began his career in the 1980s in Porto Alegre, Brazil and in 1987, he moved to Rio de Janeiro where he is still based.
Rafael is one of Brazil’s most respected pianists on the scene today. He has performed worldwide and recorded with many of Brazil’s most respected artists, including: Hermeto Pascoal, Ed Motta, Toninho Horta, Paulinho da Viola, Zé Renato, Joyce Moreno, Chico Pinheiro, Flavio Venturini, Roberto Menescal, Mario Adnet, Fatima Guedes, Lô Borges, Paula Santoro, JT Meirelles, as well as non-Brazilian artists such as Jean-Paul "Bluey" Maunick, Josee Koning, Scott Feiner, Jan Dumée, Harvey Wainapel, Hector Costita, Eugenia Melo e Castro.
Rafael is also a sought-after producer and arranger. 
Besides accompanying other artists, Rafael has his own instrumental projects and teaches private lessons and workshops throughout Brazil.
