Bufi’s new EP is the first steps into his dance floor oriented music turnover. “Crackles” can be seen as a turning point between two DJ set’s. While the first track is perfect to close a warmup, the second track suggests the beginning of the climax of the night. “Bees” is like a pop song in disguise, built on two alternating sections; the first one is a classic 4/4 disco beat with what could be an imaginary Chic air-suspended micro bass line on repeat, while section B is a melancholic laid-back groovy sort of chorus, but with just backing vocals on it. On the other side “El Tecno En Tu Idioma” is a solid Chicago-House groove with quirky and ghostly slapped español vocals all over it, seasoned with spacey bass-guitar harmonics and 80′s juno-esque lead synths.

Wah Wah 45s bring you four incredible re-works from French disco don The Reflex, for our very own legendary Canadian/Haitian keyboard wiz Henri-Pierre Noel.

Funky Spider Dance is a percussion heavy bomb filled to the brim with Henri's soaring piano licks and infectious female vocal hooks. The Reflex has taken what was already a sure-fire club favourite, and created something of a dance floor destroyer.

His rework of A Fifth of Beethoven takes its time to build into another heavy hitter. As the beats make way for Henri's deft keyboard flourishes, the recognition of this cover of the Walter Murphy classic (taken from the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack) begins to dawn - and as it does, it's clear that once again the dream team of HPN and The Reflex have worked their magic!

The Reflex's Revision of Back Home...; Sweet Home is a modern Island Funk masterpiece with organ and tropical guitar riffs making way for sunny brass stabs all underpinned by foot friendly beats.

And last, but most certainly not least, the full-length version of The Reflex's re-working of the dancer's favourite Diskette, is available here for the very first time in all of its glory!

The original versions of Funky Spider Dance and Back Home...; Sweet Home can be found on Henri's One More Step album, Diskette is taken from his debut, Piano, and his take of A Fifth of Beethoven was recently available on 7-inches of wax - all on Wah Wah 45s of course. Hailing from Brooklyn, JKriv (real name: Jason Kriveloff) is a producer, DJ, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, co-label head of Razor-N-Tape Records, and co-producer/guitarist of live disco band Escort. Throughout his illustrious musical career which spans nearly 20 years, his tracks have garnered plays from superstar DJ’s such as Disclosure, Derrick Carter, and Pete Tong. As a DJ himself, he’s shared bills with the likes of Todd Terje, Session Victim, and Dimitri from Paris just to name a few. JKriv’s experience playing in bands translates over to his solo work, as he takes an organic approach to production, playing analog instruments (guitar, bass, keyboards, synth) on many of his releases. His catalog is extensive and showcases his seemingly effortless knack for blending modern and vintage club-oriented sounds.

His latest release is “Aguaxirê”, the title track of his upcoming three-track EP of the same name coming out on Rocksteady Disco on May 17th. Kriv utilizes an array of synthesizers and samplers on “Aguaxirê” to lay out the melodies, Afro-Brazilian rhythms and vocal samples heard throughout the 9-minute track. He enlists professional trumpeter, and fellow Escort band-mate Nathan Warner to deliver the lush trumpet section of his brilliant horn arrangement. JKriv could not have chosen a better label than Rocksteady Disco to release his EP. Rocksteady Disco is a Detroit-based boutique record label and party series founded in 2014 by Peter Croce. The label has steadily released Disco, House, and Techno cuts tinged with African and Brazilian influences over the last five years. Rocksteady Disco states that it aims to take its listeners on a “life-affirming journey that engages the heart, body and mind” and its latest release “Aguaxirê” does exactly that.

The track opens with the moody chords that underlie its entirety. Then comes the vocal sample, which JKriv selects and blends in exquisitely. It features a call and response style vocal in a foreign language which sounds like an African dialect. It matches the vibe of his emotionally striking instrumental almost too well. The exotic rhythms are the backbone of the song, constantly driving it forward, but when the acid bassline comes in at around the halfway point, “Aguaxirê” really starts to take flight. Six minutes into the song, Warner’s live trumpeting comes in and the track soars. It’s an epic climax that JKriv built up to gradually and masterfully. Expect to hear “Aguaxirê” out more than once this summer. Pre-order your copy here!

For a 2020 fresh start we welcome back our label's head honcho 'The Funk District' with a brand new contribution on this Disconstucted EP consisting on four disco-constructed or deconstructed blends with a deep touch to it. As a starter 'Stuck On The Line' comes in the form of an intense funky jam filled with groovy piano chords, a powerful bassline and lots of funky guitars making it an exceptional cut for peak hours. Right next to it 'Melas' shows up as a heavy-weight sampled gem with a melancholic taste and an outstanding guitar solo attached to profound synths and energetic vocal chops. On the other side 'The Horn feat. Sokur' is a contribution with former Argentinian Piano Man: Sokur, bringing spice and a tropical flavor to the release with his outstanding musical approach in this afro-latin cut. The 'Spice Run EP’ is Lars Dales and Maarten Smeets first release under their new Dam Swindle alias. The A side features Detroit’s Nikki O, famous for her work with the hallowed Mahogani Music.  Here she applies her sultry tones and elegant soul vox to EP opener ‘Breathe’. Her seasoned vocal sitting perfectly over the percussion and live bass section, courtesy of Dutch bass veteran Charles Nagtzaam.  Title track ‘Spice Run’ features Mauskovic Dance Band percussionist Chris Bruining on this uptempo cut.  Closing out the EP Italy’s Marcello Cassanelli works his keyboard magic on the jazzy ‘Get Together'. As DJ’s, Dam Swindle have always had a knack for effortlessly blending genres and on this record, the boys have done exactly that.
