Eterna City is one of my favorite themes from Pokémon DPPT, alongside Route 209, Veilstone City and Canalave City. The original is a calm yet steady piece, which reminds many people of horse riding and old west sceneries. I personally don't really feel that way, though I can understand why some would.

This is a song about, well, not being afraid. It's a hopeful yet sad track, which pretty much nails the whole The Walking Dead feeling. With this recreation, I tried to add to it, while maintaining the original sentiment and vibes. The songs gains progressively more instruments, until the last verse, where every instrument is used.

Don't Be Afraid

With this remix I tried to make it more electronic, making the beat/drumline stand out a lot more and adding 8-bit synths to replace the original electro-piano. I also added a electric guitar to replace the same instrument in some parts, which creates a nice contrast. I tried to keep the feeling of the original chord progression, though I did add some parts of my own. These include references to other tracks of mine and another Mario track (see if you can find them!).

World Bowser

World Bowser (Mario 3D World Remix)

As always, I tried to keep a bit of the original feeling while adding my style to it. To achieve this, I used the pulse wave synths, which I really love the sound of, to replace some of the electric keys parts. I still used some keys, sparingly, with a lot less focus than in the original to add some interesting touches. I mixed a bit of this electronic-synth style with the chill style I used in my recent Eterna City remix to create contrast between upbeat and calm parts. I also composed a bass solo for the first time, pretty excited about that!

Driftveil City

Driftveil City (Pokémon BW Remix)

This game is probably the only game whose soundtrack is 100% made up of tracks I enjoy. This happens to be my favorite. The original is super upbeat (which seems to be the norm for this soundtrack). I don't think my remix is better than the original, by any means, but I'm still super proud of it! I'm just glad I could finally remix this game's OST and be confident about it.

For this remix, I didn't change the base structure that much. I changed the instruments, added some small sections, but the majority of the changes I made were subtle, like changing the bassline of a specific section or the melody for another section. Overall, I'm really happy with the results! You should definitely listen to the original, though. Go ahead and listen to the whole soundtrack; it's a masterpiece.
