Rafael L. Ronquillo completed his bachelor's degree from the UST Conservatory of Music in 2014. He received guitar instructions under the tutelage of Alvin Salenga and Alberto Mesa. He also studied under Professor Ruben Reyes – a mentor whom he considers his major influence in music. In the following year, he completed a master’s degree in music in the Conservatorio Superior de Musica de Alicante in Alicante, Spain where he studied under Prof. Ignacio Rodes. He was also a student in the Musica en Compostela in Santiago de Compostela, Spain, under Prof. Jose Luis Rodrigo. 

He was a scholar of the U.S Embassy Club and the former president of the UST Guitar Department. A former member of the UST Guitar Ensemble, UST Rondalla Ensemble, the 24 String Guitar Quartet. Along with the UST Guitar Ensemble, he performed in concerts in different provinces, guitar festivals and in the famous concert halls of Metro Manila. 

He gave a number of concerts in Spain and Metro Manila in the past years and was featured in different events. Raffy was featured in “Tatag ni Juana sa Saliw ng Tinig at Tula” in the Carlos P. Romulo Library, DFA, Manila, “Pilgrim Images” in the Pinto Art Museum in Antipolo City, and “Lorenzo”, a musical which featured music by Ryan Cayabyab. He also performed in ADDA (Auditorio de la Diputacion de Alicante), Theatre Arniches and gave a number of concerts in the Freaks Arts Bar in Alicante. Raffy was also a guest at the UMH Radio in Elche, Costa Blanca in Spain. In 2015, he played in Sede Universitaria in Alicante where he gave the Spanish Premiere of the Batang Laro Suite for Guitar by Bayani Mendoza de Leon. This 2016, he gave concerts in the University of Santo Tomas Conservatory of Music for the Guitar Department’s “Guitar Week 2016” and in Paco Park, for “Paco Park Presents: Rafael Ronquillo”. 

He is currently a member of the faculty of the University of Santo Tomas College of Arts and Letters as a Spanish professor and now aims to further build his career as a concert artist and promote Philippine music in different countries in the coming years
