"Tree of Life" from my forthcoming project Midnight Satori. In the Kabbalistic Tree of Life, Satori, a Japanese word meaning sudden awakening, is similar to the Hebrew word Chokmah, which is Divine wisdom, the flash of revelation, inspiration and divine insight that can radically change your world in an instant. The Tree of Life as a whole is an ancient tool for depicting the Creation of the universe on every level. It is an unrestricted framework for understanding human ascension. Each branch represents a part of ourselves that must be cultivated in order to reach our highest self and oneness with YHWH, God.

On May 29, Rah Zen will drop the first volume of his new series In Rah Form, but you can stream it a day early right here. Showcasing his knack for finding heady samples that simultaneously tug at the heartstrings while instilling thought-provoking imagery in the ears and mind of the listener, In Rah Form Vol. 1 features three short tracks that bleed seamlessly into each other. The tracks weave samples from old school pop vocal tracks as well as a recording of a man talking about zen meditation and how critical it is to live in the “now.” 

There’s something to that: that first sample asking “where is the sun?” really digs at the hopelessness that some people are feeling right now, stuck at home. It’s response comes in the mindfulness argued for by the speaker of the next vocal sample, whose thoughts on meditation are prefaced by statements on consciousness, mindful listening, and the dissolution of ego.
