The ambient project Heathered Pearls was the brainchild of Polish-born Brooklynite Jakub Alexander, who had a career deeply rooted in music before he ever released any of his own. He was music “curator” for Tycho’s ISO50 blog, Tycho’s manager, a DJ under the Aarnio moniker, and, latterly, head of A&R at Ghostly International, the label that released his music. Introduced as a young man to ambient music by his mother, he loved the sound but hated the “Pure Moods” clichs often associated with it, and strove to create his own vision of the genre that avoided these. In 2004, while residing in Ann Arbor, Michigan, he founded the eclectic electronica netlabel Moodgadget alongside his friend Adam E. Hunt, with the aim of “exposing the diversity in electronically made music.” Many of the label’s alumni later went on to release albums on Ghostly.

Heathered Pearls' first release on that same label was the album Body Complex. It has just been followed up by a brand new remix EP with retouches of Perfume Catalogue and Interior Architecture Software by fellow label contributors Lord RAJA and Physical Therapy

Kas:st is the French Parisian duo, owners of Flyance Records.

Their artistic universe fluctuates between hypnotic rhythms, dark and mind-blowing emotions, constantly looking to reach the “mental” aspect that they love in modern techno and in which they identify themselves with.
Following this vision, they have released in November on their own label, the first chapter of a substantial project entitled “Dysphoria I Euphoria”: 2 double EPs with 4 original tracks and 4 remixes on each one. Thus, they have surrounded themselves with artists closed to their musical style : Shlømo and AWB from Taapion Records, Anetha, Blocaus’parties resident, Detroit’s legend Luke Hess, English artists Setaoc Mass and Deepbass, Re:Axis - Monocline Records label owner, and HVL, the resident of BASSIANI’s parties in Georgia.
Following next : releases on Parisian’s label Blocaus Series and Taapion in early 2017.

Therefore we are happy to deliver again a new mix on the DRONE Podcast series. On this episode, we bring you back to the techno capital of the world, Berlin! This Techno Minded Hero has made a name for himself the last few years throughout his music productions and gigs. As a former drummer, he is well known for making complex drum grooves and patterns. His signature sound, heavy melodic industrialesque techno, can be found in numerous releases on labels like animal farm, Binary Cells, ARTS, Ōtomo, and on his own label LHR! For this episode, he granted us a two hour recorded mix which includes a lot of his own fresh productions, released and unreleased, as well tracks from Snts, Michal Jablonski, Non Reversible, Kas:st, Exal, Shlømo.

And so we are happy to welcome again a new Techno Minded Hero on the Drone Podcast No.094 with Lars Huismann in the mix.

BIO:
Lars was born in Berlin in 1987. His Career as a musician began very early. At 11 years young he started drumming in different bands. After a few years, he founded his own bands, playing different styles from jazz, fusion and all the way to progressive metal. His orientation on complex drum grooves makes up his foundation, while still being able to keep an open mind in regards to different styles and the ability to put them together to create a new form of art

At the age of 18, he discovered producing with different software such as FL-Studio and Cubase. Using these programs he was able to transfer his patterns and sequences from the drum set onto a drum computer. He has always had a natural yearning to tweek his recordings and productions, and shape them into unrecognisable elements of sound.

However, there was always a strong connection to more heavyweight electronic music. He discovered how great it is to listen and produce techno that basically wants to devour you from the inside out, vibrating your body with massive bass and some nasty hypnotic tribal rhythms.

In January 2015 he founded his own label, LHR, with the focus on deeply rooted warehouse techno. Lars Huismann Records is a journey in heavy melodic industrialesque techno music, built in an atmospheric and pulsating frame. LHR001 started with a full-length EP and release party in Tresor Berlin. Four beautifully cut tracks that take you on a journey through different areas of techno. It is an obsession with hard drilling percussion, banging synth-elements, and drums that roll together to create a more complex groove-pattern.

His second release on LHR is even more powerful. Hard stomping noisy big room kicks with very individual signature sounds. Perfect for the discerning techno crowd. Metallic synth melodies and hypnotic vocal sampling which drill the inside of your ear and a controlled bass that perpetually drives the track forward. This excursion has deadly effectiveness. Heavy pounding no mercy primetime techno that pushes you to the edge and throws you into the abyss.

999999999 is an abstract concept from the minds of two people who do not feel the need to define it. It is spontaneous, random, unlimited. This project, officially started in July 2016, has already affected several important Clubs and Parties in different cities in Europe and aroused much interest even outside the continent. First two releases on their label "Nine Times Nine" and the most recent appearance on Planet Rhythm special "303" vinyl release were immediately sold out after few hours. Live is what they are whether in or out of the studio, they are spontaneous. Improvisation with hardware is the key element of their performance and is impossible to replicate.

Kr!z always had a strong sympathy for the more gloomy, dark, rawer sound of techno. Artists like Jeff Mills, Surgeon and James Ruskin had a major influence on him in the 90s. They helped to define his musical taste and develop his own identity in the techno scene. Kr!z still has a big love for hip hop, which has left it’s mark in his technical dj style: fast and tight mixing, properly dosed with cuts and scratches. 

For Bassiani Podcast series Token label boss and one of the most prominent artist on the scene highlights a peculiar corner of techno music. The mix has got everything you could want out of a solid techno set: a striking track selection, tight mixing and hypnotic tour into dynamic, atmospheric dance music. For its fourth instalment, Interstate welcomes Copenhagen's Schacke. Rooted in punk and noise, the Danish artist grew into becoming one of the key figures of Copenhagen's scene and inner part of Courtesy's Ecotherm and newly found Kulor imprint. On INS004, Schacke delivers three originals, exploring musical spheres that are both brutal and graceful. The opener "Cold Hands" kicks things off on a dark yet atmospheric note with driving percussions that make your body shake. "It Was All A Dream" is built around an irresistible synth loop that is accompanied by angelic noises and winds. While this track blooms in its flow and drive, the short break shows what an exceptionally gifted producer Schacke is.The flip-side features the title track "Met Her At The Herrensauna" which is the record's most euphoric. Dazzling leads, shimmering synths and a somewhat otherworldy yowling loop drive this track which has all potential to create the special dancefloor moment one won't forget. At last, IBON, another Copenhagen talent, delivers his take on "Met Her At The Herrensauna" by giving the original an even more clubby and trancy touch. The two combined make this 130bpm and upwards Copenhagen take-over complete!

Format returns with another 4-track slice of techno from the label’s founder, Juan Sanchez, including a remix by lauded US producer Mike Parker.

The EP opens with Qx02, a jacking techno track built on gritty synth swirls and an acidy pulse. Following up, Mike delivers a much darker rework with a menacing kick drum as its engine. The EP's title track Dans Ta Tête pumps up the tempo, delivering a fast-paced synth-driven stomper. Things close off with Plural, on which Juan explores the more dubbier sides of techno across lush and warm ambient chords. 
FR015 is another prime example of Format’s signature techno sound that’s successfully finding its way to the floors.
