I have a lot I would like to say about the songs and music I recorded during the year of 2020. I won't say it all here; I will say a few things. I've thought a lot about how to approach releasing the music from this time period. What if it no longer represents me or what I stand for? Do I let it return to dust or do I share it with the world anyway? How do I share it without endorsing depression/anxiety/addiction/substance abuse? 

During the year of 2020 we were all seeking. We wanted to find something; some meaning, some light, some belonging; somewhere to call home. And yet we searched and searched in many of the wrong places. It's not that we had bad intentions going into the lifestyles we were living. Partying & using subtances was how we knew to connect with each other. It was the glue that held us all together for such a long time. And yet it wasn't enough to keep things from ending in disaster and chaos. We were decieved in search. Believing our path to be the right one and not understanding that the way we were living was draining us of what little spiritual resources we had left. AND YET! God's grace is so merciful that many of us were given a way out, perhaps we all are given that same golden ticket. 

I believe it's important for people to know the story behind the music I made at that time. It was not glamorous and I in no way intend for these songs to be a glorification of an addicted way of life. Many of these songs I made, I could hardly breathe as I recorded my vocals due to the crushing anxiety and drug use occuring simultaneously at that time. It was a painful way to experience life. 

In the end I think that the music I made during all parts of my journey is a valid expression of whatever state I was in at that time. From despair to hope, I do believe I was being honest with myself about the way I felt at each stage of my journey; therefore, I feel confident to share this music without compromising my integrity. I do however hope that these songs will serve as a warning to those who are opening up gateways in their own lives: to live in Love & listen to the little voice inside saying No.
