For the past decade, Japanese/British DJ Elli Arakawa has been a permanent fixture at most of the big name parties and festivals taking place on Japanese soil. To name a few: Future Terror, Mind Games, Rainbow Disco Club, Fuji Rock and even her own creations hosted at several venues Tokyo-wide. She’s also brandished her talents across the European continent and found a growing following there. Her body of work is fully consistent with that of her fellow compatriots, the brooding and hypogeal depths that spring to mind when one thinks of the current state of techno in Japan, though like many of her peers, she has diligently moulded her own interpretation of that sound. These seductive basslines fill the air and swarm anyone who dares cross their brazen path, this is techno delivered at full tilt. Bassiani Podcast 189 is a powerful call to dance, ambient beginnings morph into their fearsome final form in this highly charged and evocative studio mix. With two major milestones upon us today, we're fortunate enough to be celebrating with one of the finest in electronic music. A new year is upon us and today we also reach a major podcast milestone, to celebrate we welcome none other than contemporary techno legend, DJ Nobu for MNMT 400.

With decades of experience and as founder of both acclaimed party ‘Future Terror’ and record label ‘Bitta’, DJ Nobu has slowly but surely turned from being one of Japan's finest, to one of the world’s most in demand selectors. A great friend of Monument who delivered an incredible closing set at our first ever Monument City Festival in 2023, we couldn’t be happier to be marking the occasion with him. 

For this very special mix Nobu presents a stunning introspective excursion through electronica and deeper shades to celebrate the two milestones.

On December 9, 2023 in a secret warehouse in Madison, Wisconsin, Interdimensional Transmissions teamed up with two titans of the Midwest, Remain in Night and Intellephunk, for 12 hour party called, appropriately, Midwest Freaks. Together, we curated the environment and the music, in the Cleanest Warehouse Of All Time (!!). I played after Aza and directly before @_bbmmgg_, it was like a special family reunion. A performance based on the artist's latest release, Action is inspired by the defining harmony of rhythm and sound. The abstraction of simple techno beats and the processed overlaying of musical percussions is at the core of this exploration into the depth and complexity of techno. The live show is pared back, with the intention of being able to play in a variety of venues and with an affordance that allows the music to be tweaked on stage for the occasion. Live music for dancing.

自身の最新作「Action」をベースに構築されたライブセットとなっており、リズムとサウンドの決定的な調和にインスパイアされている。ダイレクトにテクノを連想させる様なビートを抽象化し、加工されたパーカッションのレイヤーを重ねていく事で、テクノの深みと複雑さを探求。このライブセットはステージ上で即興的にパフォーマンスをできる様なシンプルさを持たせる事で、様々な会場での演奏を可能としている。まさに踊ることに特化したセットである。
