Before putting pen to paper, Rain knew she wanted to be an artist and at the age of 13, she was recording her very first song. Her grandmother was the first to see the raw talent in the young singer and made sure Rain was in the studio to create freely. While still a newcomer, Rain, who was born Shaniqua Johnson, has crafted a sound that has been induced by an arc of Southern musical influences with her coming from Florida, Chattanooga, and Atlanta.
 
Rain’s edgy and sexy sound is evident on her most recent release “Make It Bounce”. The track, which features production by Soundsfromikey and Say Zay, is reminiscent of something you’d hear from Rihanna or Teyanna Taylor who Rain takes a lot of inspiration from. Her confidence pours on the track as she relays a sense of comfortableness behind the mic. Rain also recently lended her polished vocals on Webbie’s “What I Been Thru” and plans to add to her list of releases.
“Make sure you don’t spend more time with hate to give than love,” says the singer, “cause you’re going to lose a lot of time.” The love Rain has for music is exactly what will poise her into the next position as a singer and songwriter.
