AIKU KUROTAKI is a DJ and artist born in Kanagawa, Japan and based in Tokyo. After studying Textile Design at Tokyo Zokei University and spending 3 months in Bristol as an exchange student in 2020, he graduated this year with a strong desire to return to the UK and Europe to explore the art world and music scene. Arriving at the end of August, he spent 2 months travelling between Paris, Amsterdam, Berlin, and Bilbao before landing in Manchester where he has been based for over a month. Inspired by the new sounds, sights and cities that extended his field of vision and imagination, this mix will take you on a musical journey reflecting his philosophy of DJing as creating a world from sound: a sound collage. In this show, he will play some jazz, house, techno, break beats as well as Japanese underground tunes to share with you some of his favourite Japanese tracks as well as some sounds and records he’s picked up along his recent travels. For Aiku, music is a way of expressing a worldview and a way to see the world through sound. Music also offers connection, so sit back and enter the world of this mix.
