Closed Paradise stepped up his production game massively in 2015 with records on Kolour Limited, Above Machine and Diggin' Disco Deep,  now in 2016 we have recently launched ‘The Masters Series' which has received some excellent feedback from the likes of Junktion , Sleazy Beats Recordings, Martin Hayes & Razor N Tape to name but a few, cementing his rep as one of France's biggest.

So we thought it would be fitting to have him do this vinyl only exclusive mix for the label which will be the first in a series of mixes over the course of 2016 and we promise you will not want to miss this!!

To our delight, African funk master Jagger Botchway has been busy in the studio, getting to work on a rare soca and highlife record with a number of musicians he collaborated with from various points of his career. Cultures of Soul have striven to find a host of relevant remixers to match up to Jagger's achivements. These names, already schooled in the colourful sounds of Afro-funk, feature Berlin's Africaine 808, Switzerland's Alma Negra, New York's Names You Can Trust and Manchester's Ruf Dug – whose "Tight Disco Dub" of "Moko Le Dzen" trumps the rest as our favourite. Heavily led by a percussive backbone, the rework takes us on an intercontinental journey of instruments, between African drumming patterns and a conventional Western drum kit. This is further invigorated by a reverb-rich trumpet line and a synth line peppered by chordal stabs throughout. A surefire way to ensure a workout on any dancefloor.

Fourth release by Tropical Animals 'Surrounding Areas' sees them team up with two Italian veterans: cosmic legend Daniele Baldelli and Bluenoises Records founder Dario Piana. 

Whirlwinds of synths push back against basslines dipped in tubs of drowsy funk, as universes of psychedelia unfold. The four tracks from 'Surrounding Areas' capture a distinctively italian spirit, one that was born to soundtrack the warm summer nights of Tuscany but that will very certainly do an excellent job elsewhere too.

Out 4th September on Ransom Note Records, "Pizza Conspiracy" is the second album from Hologram Teen aka Morgane Lhote. Following stints in outfits like The Projects and Garden, Morgane’s first incarnation as a solo artist began five years ago, with Hologram Teen’s superb debut album Between the Funk and the Fear emerging in 2018. Prior to that, she played keyboards in Stereolab during their 1995-2001 imperial phase, with a key role in seminal albums such as Emperor Tomato Ketchup and Dots and Loops. Oh, and a bit of trivia - keen-eyed hip-hop fans might be able to spot Morgane on the cover of Common’s "Electric Circus"...
