Here's a song I wrote a few years ago about a coal mine that is closed and turned into a theme park.  The ghosts of miners wander about.  Governments are good at closing industries and then lamenting and trivialising them.  Hope you enjoy it.

Attached is a trio of songs I wrote to mark 25 years since the end of the miners' strike. The recording is not great - a live recording of Free Range singing them in Bramley (Leeds) earlier this year. 

The words are from poems written by Jean Gittens, a woman from a mining family in Kippax, Leeds, who was involved in Women Against Pit Closures and wrote lots of poetry at the time.
