Savannah-based artist Candy Casket joins forces with Jersey-based artist samwise. for issue six.  This collaboration goes to show just how far our technology has advanced; allowing us to create art where relational distance is no longer an obstacle.

Be on the lookout for an EP from this duo at some point this year.

Interview Snippet:

 phuture: Let's talk about "Spoonful" for a moment. This track seems ready for festivals as well as those really intimate sets with fifty chill people; can you tell us about the process that went into making this wildly dancable track?
 
samwise. : Candy Casket and I have been creating and writing back and forth in Splice for awhile now, which helps us to share project files more easily, thus combining our workflows in Ableton. Besides that, I feel that the utter chemistry between Candy and I made this track possible.
 
Candy Casket: Lots of weed.. honestly, I got really high and kept adding weird synth riffs until it became a disorienting masterpiece.

Interview Snippet:

phuture: What can we be looking forward to from you in the future (no pun intended, but okay, maybe just a lil bit)?
 
refractor: Hopefully more stuff like photon. I love banger music as much as the next guy, but I also love higher melodic complexity and song movement. I hope to combine those two things more. That said, I’d also like to make more weird, experimental stuff. I want people to listen to it and think, “what even is this? wait, I love this. wait, what’s going on?”

phuture: What made you want to work with Amalia Maygora on this track? Her vocals are great, and accompany the track very nicely!

Kiedo :  I always want to work with vocalists, I work a lot with a friend of mine who sings very RnB inspired vocals. Amalia (aka. Cool Girl) is my girlfriend so we make music together all the time. She is an incredible scat singer and I record her voice any chance I get.
