Raison D'etre

Somos un duo Dark wave/post punk de Tijuana. Es un proyecto que empezamos en 2020 debido al aislamiento, nos pusimos a sacar nuestras inquietudes musicales y letras más oscuras, pensamientos que nos estaban pasando en esos momentos , las pocas canciones que tenemos hablan de aislamiento muerte y oscuridad. Formado por Karim Rosales productor musical y Belem Politron en la voz quien escribe las letras que adoptamos para nuestra música. Somos un par de almas enamoradas de la música, de hecho ambos somos músicos de bandas de psychobilly / Los Helldandys e Intrepid Mutants , con este proyecto hemos hecho realidad un anhelo de hacer música más electrónica y oscura con sintetizadores y sonidos post punk. Nuestras grandes influencias son desde The Cure hasta Boy Harsher, She Past Away pasando por Joy Division , somos melómanos y estamos planeando hacer un lanzamiento cada cierto tiempo acompañado de su respectivo video , esa es la dinámica del proyecto y estamos preparándonos para presentarnos en vivo, no somos extraños de los escenarios con nuestras bandas ya hemos tocado en diferentes ciudades de México y en California en el caso de Intrepid Mutants.

Cold Spring proudly presents the new studio album from MERZBOW. As a life-long campaigner of animal rights, Masami Akita has delivered a brutal assault on those that cage and murder animals. 'ANIMAL LIBERATION - UNTIL EVERY CAGE IS EMPTY' is 5 tracks (49 mins) of total noise assault that only the King of Japanese Noise can provide.

"There is a theory that Covid-19 broke out from the poor conditioned wet markets where live animals are sold. If there were no poultry farms, there would be no mass destruction of chickens due to the spread of bird flu. Human beings' cruelty to animals, animal abuse and species discrimination are all adding up to a disaster for mankind and the whole planet. The pandemic is an opportunity to reflect on the relationship between animals and humans. Veganism is the future for humanity" (Masami Akita, 2021).

The artwork is a reflection of the animal rights and anarcho-punk movements of the 80's. Proceeds from this release will benefit animal rights charities.

MERZBOW No Cages Part 3

Teaser for the new raison d'être studio album 'Mise en Abyme', out on Transgredient Records 2014. 

'Mise en Abyme' (placed into the abyss) is an inner katabasis journey to the most hidden and darkest parts of the Self. Conceptually the album contains ingredients from 'The Divine Comedy' by Dante or any similar stories/myths around the katabasis theme. Instead of being linked to religion, history or morality, 'Mise en Abyme' is purely a psychological and therapeutic trip to the underworld. But even in the most dark and chaotic places in the depths there are small shades of light, hope and understanding; one can be enlightened and purified in the return from an inferno.

It’s with great honour that we present the latest album by Swedish dark ambient stalwart raison d’être. 
This time Peter Andersson scrutinizes the paths of Carl Gustav Jung's notions of archetypes and the individuation process. Just like Mise en Abyme, the previous raison d'être album from 2014, Alchymeia is diving deep down to the shadows of the unconsciousness, and back to a dawn of the true Self. Confronting the shadow within is the darkest time of despair. There seems no way forward, only down. All is blackening and decomposed. Suddenly, through an enantiodromia, the ever deepening descent into the unconscious transmogrifies and becomes gradually illuminated. The melancholia is being purified. Alchymeia is in a sense the “raison d'être” of raison d'être, a shadowy journey through our unconscious the individuation process and archetypes. This release also marks the first time a raison d'être album will be available on vinyl. Artwork by Nihil.

Sound clip from the CD 'When the Earth Dissolves in Ashes' which gathers 75 minutes unique live only material performed at different locations during 2010 and 2011: Zürich, Wuppertal, Rotterdam, Cologne, Leipzig (WGT), Cherkassy and more. The starting point for these live tracks is mainly the sounds used for 'In sadness, Silence and Solitude', 'Metamorphyses' and 'The Stains of the Embodied Sacrifice' looped and mixed live together with on spot improvised sounds, thus shaped into new never before heard sonically expressions.

Raison d'être formed in 1991 as a tool of expression with the goal of self-realization. Behind the project is the highly respected and multitalented sound artist Peter Andersson. For almost two decades now, and with a vast number of CD releases on the Cold Meat Industry label, raison d'être have been supplying listeners with overwhelming dark ambient industrial landscapes of beauty and sorrow. Listening to raison d'être is like a lucid journey into the dark hidden domains of your inner self. But this is not all. Peter Andersson host not only one but up to nine other projects representing different sides and sounds of the Andersson character. The most well known except for raison d'être are Stratvm Terror, Necrophorus, Bocksholm and Atomine Elektrine.
