From MoondramPirai(LP);  Having been focussed on upgrading my analog setup and had spent ton of time and effort to get the setup in its peak performance. This specific song is rare to find in good quality. The LP that I have is not maintained properly by the previous owners. However, yet another superb track from Maestro. Notice the killer Bass line.... especially at ~2:15...  SC does some compression which causes loss of micro details.  Not to mention the awesome Brass section. In spite of the awful condition of the LP, you could hear most of the instruments very clearly. One among the many song that needs to be preserved in the highest resolution possible for future generations. Please note these are sample test recordings done to check the analog setup... HiRes - VaanengumThanga (Sample)

From Solla Thudikkuthu Manasu (LP). Another beauty from Maestro. This specific one I was astonished to note the LEFT channel is completely missing in the CD version. Please check this link(https://soundcloud.com/raja4ever/dsd-thaenmozhiendhan-sample). You simply don't know what you have missed until you hear the track in the way it was recorded. Notice the "Tambourine" instrument is totally missing on the LEFT channel in the CD version. Also, the CD version looks like it was EQ-ed to mask the missing left track. Another beauty is usage of Tabala and Dholak combo in the first part of the music and Mirudhangam and Tabala combo in the second part of the music. Its simply mesmerizing the way Maestro came up with the orchestration for this track. Please note these are sample test recordings done to check the analog setup. Recorded at 24/192khz

HiRes - ThaenMozhi-LP(Sample)

Presenting painstakingly cleaned and recorded from LP Oh Maanae Maanae. The LP condition is not so great. However,  the quality of the recording on this LP is exceptional.  One can just imagine the sound quality of the original SpoolTape . The kick drums sound very deep and have weight to the sound. The Guitar tones can be heard very clearly and the instrument separation is very obvious.  Using a good quality headphones, you can hear the microdetails of the instruments. The Bass line is something you cannot miss. Recording directly as DSD onto a computer takes enormous processing power. Recorded at 1-Bit/5.6mhz DSD

DSD - RojaOndru - LP - (Sample)

From Snehaveedu (Malayalam) -  Yet another soothing melody from Maestro with an awesome Bass line. Have been waiting for more than 1.5 months to get the Everest Power distributor delivered.  Ran two dedicated 20 am power line from the main panel with  6 gauge wire for the most part transitioning to 10 gauge powering Everest and mono blocks. Everest is still breaking in.  Still sounds phenomenal in terms of sound quality. There is more depth, instrument separation is ver clear and has more 3d sound to it. Please listen and let you decide it for yourself.  Using a quality headphone/IEM  for sure will result in maximum enjoyment. Upsampled to 1-Bit/11.2 mhz DSD.

DSD - Chandhrabimbathin  - Malayalam - (Sample)

From From Achuvinte Amma;  Another gem from Maestro for Malaylam... Since this is an excellent recording, was curious to fine out the difference between this one and the one that was loaded 2 years ago (https://soundcloud.com/raja4ever/swashathinthaalam). My observation is the older version is little bright (which may cause listener fatigue over time listening). Mostly its attributed to the DAC's sonic signature (every DAC has a certain signature which does influence the output). Listening to this version is very sublime. Very 3D with deeper and wider soundstage. The beauty is that you can play louder and it doesn't distorts (it may push  your IEM/Headphone's capability ). The system is getter much better as the components break-in.  Upsampled to 1-Bit/11.2mhz DSD

DSD - SwasasthinThaalam - Malayalam (Sample)

From EeraVizhiKaaviyangal; This one album.. I simply cannot ignore. The goal will be to convert it to a DSD in the absolute best quality possible. Imagine if you were to get the original tapes... One heck of an album from Maestro.... Way ahead of its time when released (and still is IMO). Compare this one with this version (https://soundcloud.com/raja4ever/dsd-kaadhalpannpaadu) 6 years ago. You can hear it with much more clarity and good instrument separation. How can one ignore the Bass... Just wanted to give you all a taste of this new sound...  IMO, the movie version is better since it has claps added which is more awesome than the audio CD version. Upsampled to 1-bit/11.2mhz DSD

From RudhramaDevi; What a composition and superb orchestration by Maestro and SPB sir’s vocal….Notice the number of drums and percussion used to create the intensity. The tone of the instruments are simply amazing. Upsampled to 1-bit/11.2mhz DSD

One  of the magnificent scores from Maestro. The recording quality is very good... however, the volume is very low and you'd have to crank up the volume. I think I have fixed that. The new music server is simply out of this world. The sound quality is three dimensional with black background and excellent instrument separation. Upsampled to 1-bit/11.2 mhz DSD.

India 24 Hours; The whole album is very different from non-filmy ones. Notice the sparkle in percussions. An absolute delight to hear in its highest quality. Upsampled to 1-Bit/11.2MHZ DSD.

Oru Kaidhiyin Diary(ACD); Yet another awesome song from our Eternal Maestro.  In fullest resolution possible. What can I say.. the Bass simply sweeps you away (see if you can follow that; it has the power that you will virtually forget other instruments being played. There are some noises at the beginning of the song which I think is coming from the spool tape. The upload just kills the quality. Still enjoyable. DSD - EnnaVaramVaendum (Sample)

From 'The Music Messiah' (ACD); One of the several tracks used as BGM for the Malayalam movie GURU.  The amount of effort put in for a background score is simply amazing. Even a Thampura which is panned from LEFT to RIGHT for each beat. Not sure automation feature existed in DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) during the late 90's.  Not to mention the amount of percussion used in this track.  This was played on the heavily customized CD player. It has been doing through the burn-in process by playing non-stop for the past couple of days. The edginess has almost gone and music is vey fluid. It will be in burn-in mode for another week.  There is a low level hum in the whole signal chain. Not sure if it came from the master tape or was introduced during the production of the CD.  I  guess its from the master tape. From Chinna Thambi(ACD); Very good recording. Notice the usage of "GadaSingari"?  being played and panned to left and right channels separately. Maestros attention to the detail is amazing.  Upsampled to 1-bit/11.2mhz.

From ChinnaThambi(ACD). This is the pathos version. There is a slight hum throughout the track. This CD player brings every single note out along with the deficiencies in the recording. DSD - Thooliyilae - Pathos

From Nannavanu(ACD); Amazing track from Maestro. Tried a different approach. The entire track is pure DSD recording. Its take quite a bit of time for this approach. But, the result is pure bliss.  Because of the DSD recording, I had to abruptly end the clip instead of doing a fade out.  Forgot to fade out. Sorry about the abrupt ending. Recorded at 1-bit/11.2mhz DSD.

From Metti(ACD);  One of the best albums from Maestro. The recording quality is not good. This one is sung by Mr. Bramaanadham.  The Violin starting @2:00 is very haunting. The mid frequencies are on the higher side. So, please listen it with volume reduced.

From Echil Iravugal(ACD). The records is decent based on the age of the album. The instruments do sound very clear and natural.  Upsampled to 32/192khz

From Achuvinte Amma (ACD); Lovely lullaby song from Maestro. Even though this song has been uploaded before, this was upsampled using the new setup which is way superior. Upsampled to 1-bit/11.2mhz DSD.

DSD - EndhuParannjnaalum - Malayalam

From RaajaavinRamanaMaalai (ACD); Tried this on the new Anubis ADDA converter. Did this to see the capabilities of this little device and I am impressed with the output. The Headphone preamp is outstanding. Notice the instruments sounds so natural. You can distinguish the different instruments in this track.  BTW, an awesome melodious track from Maestro Raaja! From PonnarSankar(ACD); Beautiful melody from Maestro!. Mostly electronic instruments used. However, superb use of wind and strings(Sarangi & Violins). Notice the use of Sarangi for a melody.. amazing. Not to mention the usage of Violins, Cello and Bass  string section. The Flute usage is too good. Is this a counterpoint @  2.27? When I am simply amazed with the string usage in the 1st interlude, here comes the second interlude with Cello and Bass(@3:35) and the overlapping of Flute.... Oh my oh my.. simply superb. The new converter is way too good and has lot of headroom. Upsampled to

Eera Vizhi Kaviyangal(ACD); Rare song from this album. Although not a good quality recording, you could still hear the instruments clearly. Also, this track was added as a bonus one when it was reissued. In the process of upgrading MASTER CLOCK which should achieve another level of sonic quality. It will be interesting to upsample this album once that becomes available. Will let you all know when that happens. Upsampled to 1-bit/11.2khz DSD

DSD - KaanumSanthosham

Nenjil Aadum Poo Ondru(ACD); Yet another haunting score from maestro. The Bass and Electric Guitars being played throughout the song is simply awesome. The percussion instrument combined with the hi-hat is totally different in this song. Overall audio quality is horrendous. The source clearly is from a beaten up LP. Heck there is even a track skip in the middle of the song.  I have three audio CD's of this album and  the other two are even worse than this.  Looking for a decent quality LP version. Uploading it due to the rarity of this song. Upsampled to 24-bit/176khz.

From Mythri(DVD)- Awesome compilation from Maestro.  Played through the new Luxman D-10X DAC. It sounds spectacular. Up sampled to 24/176khz

HiRes - Vishaala (Kannada)

From PuthiyaTheerangal (DVD). This is just an experimental approach to get this song from DVD since it has nice panning and instrument separation. The emphasis on this effort is to highlight the orchestration, instruments and panning techniques used in this track.  Specifically the Violin pans from LEFT to RIGHT giving the impression the instrument  pans in CIRCLE. Never heard this type of panning in Raaja's song before.  Just wanted to highlight the efforts put in by Maestro on a song which I'm sure not many may have noticed the instruments used and the way they naturally flow from one instrument to another.  Ah that Electric Guitar is absolutely stunning. Absolutely love this track. I wish SC retained its actual dynamic range. Listening this in a good system is simply an experience that cannot be described in words. Thought other could enjoy this treasure as well. Upsampled to 24/192khz

In pursuit of high quality sound, presenting here the track from Sadma(ACD); Very good recording. Yet another beauty from Maestro. Wish they removed the tape hiss.  SC doesn't do justice to the upsampled file. What you are hearing not even close to the upsampled one. Otherwise it has excellent stereo imaging and instruments sound very rich. It just amazes me that one person could not only compose.. but, come up with an awesome orchestration, volume of each instrument being played and panning... an unimaginable task. The Bass Guitar is simply superb. Up sampled to 1-bit/11.2mhz DSD

Greetings everyone! Its been a while since there has been any update done to this SoundCloud page.  This due to the lack of time on my part and also that there are official online sites where you can get tracks legally and with reasonable quality.  Due to these reasons, unfortunately I will not be uploading any more songs and eventually I plan to shutdown this channel. I want to personally thank everyone of you for the support that you have provided all these years and I hope you had wonderful  time and experience listening to these tracks in highest quality possible. To highlight the hidden gems in Maestro Ilaiyaraaja's music by trying to provide it its purest form (in highest resolution and transparent form without any digital coloration or alteration) for maximum listening pleasure.

The initial goal was to surpass the quality of the original master sources. There is no way to measure this since no one has access to the original sources. The next phase in my goal will be achieve the following:

1. Be able to follow any instruments throughout the song (if its recorded) clearly. 2. Be able to effortlessly hear the layering in the song (like Vocals in the front row, instruments in the next row, percussions on the side and so on) if its recorded with that intent. The layering should reflect the way a particular song is recorded.
3. Be able to listen to any instrument in its original tone (timbre).
Trying achieve the above is not easy. It will take time and effort to get to that level.
