DJ Hell is one of the true legends of Techno and House music. And when he asked me if I wanted to remix one track of his concept album „Zukunftmusik“ (which is by the way a genius name) I was not hesitating. 
The track has a certain melancholic atmosphere that I wanted to save also in the remix. And also the lyrics remember us not to forget where our an important part of our electronic music culture comes from: from gay culture and parties.

Our main goal is to keep pushing the underground scene and highlight new talent. Today is no different: the masters from Baptist are a rising voice in the electronica scene in the Netherlands and their new, long awaited album is soon due.. Until then they warm us up with this magnificent remixes EP of their single "Love Is" on the Amsterdam label Basserk. 

Precursor is no unfamilliar name around here and with his recent "Antagonist EP" he showed what he's capable of. His talent shines in this particular remix, where he completely rewrites the original slow-paced almost pop-electronica track into a dreamy techno track, ready for the dancefloor. Part one of my 4 hour set at Watergate Berlin autumn 2018.

Joris Voorn 4 Hours at Watergate Berlin 2018 Pt.1

For most artists 2018 seemed a year for retrospection. Skee Mask opens my year mix with a track that could have been made by LTJ Bukem in 1996, followed by Pavel Milyakov who’s Main Loop track seems like an outtake of a mid 90’s German trance record. There’s also disco house by Dj Koze and Detroit Swindle, Italo dance by Krystal Clear and 90’s rave techno by Flug.
And even though I found 2018 quite a difficult year for finding big tracks, there was plenty of beautiful music, some of which ended up on my Year Mix.
I also feel dance music in 2018 has been more atmospheric than ever, which created beautiful moments on the dance floor, sometimes epic and sometimes more intimate.
With my Spectrum events I’ve been able to play much of this music in my extended sets, and I think this Year Mix reflects that.
As always I’ve really enjoyed wrapping up the year musically, and I’ve listed back to the mix 10 times already, I hope you will too.
