Survival Of The Littest pt. 7 (INTRO)

growing up I never saw brown girls like me represented in mainstream western media, so now my mission with my art is to represent and empower others by showing them what it looks like to take up these spaces. my dream was always to see a brown girl superhero and my power would be to control the pen with my mind and create objects straight from my imagination.

i've sampled some of my favourite dialogue from the incredibles, with elastigirl dropping from gems about how she isn't gonna settle for less than she deserves in a mans world and that we can't leave all the saving the world to the men. 

the pressure for women to settle down into marriage is a huge thing in south asian culture and i played with this concept when mr incredible asks "what are you waiting for" and the kid replies "something amazing i guess". 

at the end of the track, elastigirl tells violet tells her that she has more power than she realises and greatness is in her blood. this was to remind myself, whenever i experience self doubt to keep going.

hopefully the visual and audio experience help remind you of your own superpower and worth :)
