Qilla Records proudly presents the Brazilian 'Plastic Robots' with the first release of the year. The duo have a strong, in your face approach to their music that pans across techno to electro using loads of analog sounds and vocals with a healthy dose of robotics. The original version is a fine example of what these guys are about. The first interpretation of the release comes from the Portuguese sensation "Re:Axis", who turns the original into a deep, hypnotic remix with loads of atmosphere that compliments rich harmonics and a great dance floor vibe. The second remix is from the Delhi based and label co-owner BLOT!. This version has enough attitude to make a lot of heads turn, a solid re-interpretation of the original with sublime class.

Andreas Baumecker launched his DJ career in the early 90s, a Frankfurt native coming of age in the halcyon days of his country’s reunification. His first stop was the city’s storied and centrally located Romantica, then its affiliate Intimbar where reps from house label Playhouse picked him up for buying duties at record store Delirium. After an uptick in local bookings, he made a brief stop in Mannheim for more of the same before moving to Berlin in 2004, where a recently opened Panorama Bar scouted him as resident and offered him the role of in-house booker for its Berghain operations. As word got out and the city started to draw larger crowds he became a fundamental force in crafting the club’s story. Hesitant to define the upstairs-downstairs split as house and techno, he practices his preachings through an approach that embraces a range of different sounds. ‘Surprise is important’ and his 25,000 strong vinyl collection lends a hand in the process, an assemblage that oscillates between disco, house, electro, techno, breakbeat and pop; the key is to capture the spirit of a crowd. This strategy has borne not only his label Freundinnen (put on hiatus in 2007, relaunched in 2023), but a lasting collaboration with sparring partner Sam Barker as half or Barker and Baumecker (four 12” records and two albums on his alma mater’s imprint Ostgut Ton to prove it). nd_baumecker deals in all things funky and uplifting, a thread of life-affirming melodies and historically literate beats that drive seamlessly forward. Bassiani Podcast 255 alludes to his well stocked portfolio of references, with hints of disco and balearic house, it's more of what his fans know and love to usher in the warmer months; this latest episode is full of spacey tenor, refreshing and gently rolling, breezy chill-out expertly compiled by this fabled German veteran.

The music Aurora Halal creates is informed by many different disciplines. She is a producer, but also a videographer and visual artist who has worked on films about modular synth godfather Morton Subotnick amongst others. She is also the force behind Brooklyn’s Mutual Dreaming party series as well as the Sustain-Release festival. In just a couple of years she has cooked up an expressive and experimental techno sound—solo and with the likes of Ital—on labels such as Lovers Rock and her own Mutal Dreaming Recordings. Oppressive and foggy, her distorted, imperfect sounds made up of heavy drums and scurrying synths have taken her to plenty of remarkable live gigs all over the world. Now she steps up to our mix series with equal aplomb.

Courtesy is one of techno’s newest breakthrough stars. The Greenland born, Danish raised DJ, Ectotherm label boss and journalist first turned heads with some key online mixes in 2016 which showed she will reach for whatever works be that rave, electro or breaks. Since then she’s further established herself with her own regular NTS show and sets at key places like De School and Berghain, and in three weeks time she will play our festival in Sao Paolo.

To get in you on the mood for that she’s first turned out a new mix which, as usual from Courtesy, is characterised by fascinating contrasts. It’s high in energy from the off, and races through a number of styles of house and techno that ranges from twisted to dubbed out to ghetto. Getting ever-quicker as it goes, there’s a subtle sense that you’re building towards something throughout the set. It makes it an absorbing, high octane ride that never settles in once place but at the same time feels like one complete story.

Raketka was born and raised in Minsk, Belarus, where she started to collect and play records in 2007. Back then it was mainly Detroit, Acid and Dub Techno and has later developed into more 'out of genre' styles.
From 2009 onwards Raketka has been travelling round the world with a bag full of vinyls. During her musical career she has held residency in club Cirrus in GOA, India. From there she has moved to Berlin and later to Santiago de Chile. In 2016 she returned back to Minsk, where she has been curating large music events. In 2017 she signed up with Mixworks label based in Detroit. In 2019 and 2020 Raketka was recognized as the Best Vinyl Dj in Belarus by independent voting. In the end of 2020 she made it to the list of best mixes of the year by MIXMAG. By the end of 2021 Raketka made her appearance at Boiler Room. She recently was invited to be a part of the first edition of the DGTL festival in New Delhi and Mumbai both, as well as the first one edition of Boiler Room GOA.
        Raketka is also an author of various educational programmes in electronic music field and founder of Belarussian Forum for local labels of electronic music.
