Using a sample randomly selected in class. Brought me out of my comfort zone to make a song  in a genre I otherwise would not have touched on.

Using a sound clip from the 3D pinball game Space Cadet, we had to make a song that used this audio. I tried to split the audio sample I was given into different segments for diversity throughout the track. It was hard trying to get my ideas to match up properly. I myself am not properly satisfied with the quality of this track, but I think that's more with a disconnect between my music style and the ways this assignment was meant to be made.

I tried my best to put together the windows xp sound of both the windows operating system start up sounds and error pop-up noise. The point of the glitchy feel of the sample is to give it an old forgotten feeling. Enjoy

STS349 Assignment 8 Remanence of Windows XP (Random Sample)

This piece is for the eighth assignment in my Electronic Music in Practice class. We were tasked with working with a classmate, where they would send us a sample and we had to make a piece with it. 

I worked with Aron. He sent me the main melody as a sample. I found a loop for the drums within Ableton's library, and I used that for the percussion. I then used a built in MIDI instrument for the bass. For the other melody that comes in about halfway through the piece I used a different MIDI instrument and improvised something to make the piece less repetitive.
