Charonne had gone silent for the last year... or so it looked. While not releasing much, the duo was isolated for months in their studio, exploring sounds and refining their craft. During that time, they could reflect on their past 5 years of releasing music, picking off on what they had done and where they wanted to evolve. And, one year later, here it is: Innervoice, Charonne’s first album, right here, right now, on Rakya. 14 tracks printed on 3 x 12’'.

To anyone who have been through isolated lockdown, identical days after identical days, everything concurs to a feeling of out-of-timeness. Time is no longer chronologic, but distorted. Innervoice encapsulates Charonne’s search for their own track of time, making it sound like a time-travel musical machine. Pastel Paradise (B2) is a vibrant hommage to the 80s post-funk era, while Freak Freak (C3) recreate the vibe of a 90s dance hitter. Future Past Present (D2) offers a suspended moment in-between yesterday and tomorrow, before crawling back at high-speed into SpaceCityFunk (E1), which could have very well been the OST of an old school Japanese car race video game.

Is it all about past, then? No, because this would mean forgetting the core of Innervoice: the ambition to compose… with a voice. The dreamy echo of an unknown voice welcomes us with Une Voix inconnue (A1), quickly turning into a rhythmic pattern in Odyssée (A2): “de quoi je me mêle ?”, she says. The voice is guiding us through the album up until it tells us to move in Move Me (Feat. Badbadtati's Cosmic Vox) (C2). Needless to say, the inner voice resonates with another experience of creation in social isolation: being on the edge between sanity and madness, surrounded by unknown voices. Finally, after an emotional ballad in I Lost My Body (F2), the voice asks to Stay Close to Me (F3), dit it understand that we are not meant for social isolation?

One year since Rakya’s Liquor Store, one year since our core members Charonne were secretly crafting their comeback in Rakya’s catalogue with the Moonstruck Zine EP.

This release has many faces, crossing styles and tempo: a starry-eyed collection of sounds. And most importantly, it’s designed for both the mind and the club. 

Glamorama (A1) is a synth-lead stomper, dancefloor killer, as steady and powerful as this genre can get. It has founded its fine balance between a rather dark first impression and the overtaking feel-good energy of the organs. A reference to Bret Easton Ellis’ schizophrenic society: Glamorama. Which makes a perfect transition towards the glistening bomb of the EP, an uplifting house-music anthem where Charonne encourages you to MakeUrOwnMusic (A2) 

B-side, on the other hand, is more intimate. Experimentations in tempos and structures, exploring a dystopian future. The Little People is where Charonne manoeuvre a more ravy side, but always with a sense of melancholy – moving us to the EP’s conclusion, B2, an acidic and mysterious high-speed UFO.

Good news have became the rarest thing. Not much to cheer on or be happy about when you wander around the Internet these days, right ? 
Well, now is the time to enjoy the news again. 

Say hello to our new baby boy : a 6-trackers sexy coming directly from the sharp hands of our mad scientist in chief, mister @antoinehdv. 

It synthesizes everything he has been doing so well in the past few years : complex and well-thought structures, great mastery of its gear and most of all, a very unique approach of the groooove. All across the EP there are many surprises, tweaks and turnarounds – but just as in any good book, it will all makes sense in the end. 

A-Side is sure fire for the future dancefloors to come while B-Side takes thing in a more poetic approach, forming an EP which honestly feels like an album, consistent and with a true sense of narrative.

Fata Morgana originally meant two things. First, a complex and mystical form of mirage that can be seen right above the horizon of the sea. Second, a magical and powerful enchantress from the mythology. Now, it will have a third definition: a stunning EP from @idris-bena.

You’ve known Idris for his delicate breakbeat touch and harmonious house narratives - now is the time to discover his dance music repertoire. A1 ‘Danceteria’ is a statement in that regard, a joyful banger that fulfills perfectly its purpose (make you move) while maintaining finesse and surprise. 

A2 ‘Bird Tales’ pursues that goal further and drives you hypnotically towards B-Side. This is where Fata Morgana reaches its full complexity. B1 ‘Soft Things’ is a hybrid work: mysterious, hardly describable, crafted for dancers yet radiating softness and melancholia. 

No time to rest though, because B2 ‘Devotion’ is right around the corner. A muscular, generous houssy track, aesthetically closer to the 90s, showing how well Idris moves from one era to another. 

Fata Morgana is almost over as you softly dive into a musical bathtub... B3 ‘Now I Float’ - And we let that title have the final word.
