This is kinda weird but this is actually the first production I have ever released under my own name. I have always produced but under group names such as 2020Vision, 2020soundsystem, Chuggles, Wulf n Bear, Wolf n Flow, Otaku etc 

I have always been happy working alongside other musicians but after 2020Soundsystem recently ended I felt the desire to get into the studio and have a go myself.  I set up a basement crib, dusted off some old machines I've had for years and got busy.  So hopefully this is the first of many mixes over the coming months.

Escape Pods – King Britt
Originally from Philadelphia King has followed many paths in music over a career spanning 3 decades from; being the tour DJ for Grammy Award winning hip hop group Digable Planets to co-founding Ovum Records with Josh Wink, to writing as Sylk 130, hundreds of remixes asnd fin ally academic. 
King’s current position is as a teaching professor at the University of California San Diego. One of the courses King teaches at UCSD is called Blacktronika: Afrofuturism Ii electronic music, it’s a new course devised by King that has included Questlove, Sun Ra Arkestra and Goldie dropping in as guests. King’s exploration of Afrofuturism began much earlier including ‘A Night of Afrofuture’ that took place at MOMA PS1 in New York City back in 2014. 
It’s been an incredible journey from East to West coast and everywhere in between and we’re keen to find out more about it all on Escape Pods trip into space.

Helena Hauff is simply one of the most exciting DJs on the planet, playing a mix of; electro, techno, acid house and EBM in energetic vinyl only sessions. Originally from Hamburg, Helena learnt her trade as a resident DJ at the intimate Golden Pudel venue before venturing out to tour the world. She’s played at renowned festivals including Movement Detroit, Sonar Barcelona and Field Day London. In 2017 she became the first-ever female DJ to be awarded the prestigious ‘Essential Mix of the Year’ by Radio One. 
Helena has a unique sound as a music producer with three highly acclaimed albums under her belt recorded for Ninja Tunes, Dark Entries and Werk Discs - preferring a 'less is more' approach to sound design using analogue machines. Helena also curates and runs her own excellent Return to Disorder record label that has featured releases from; Umwelt, Nite Flight, L.F.T and Dynarec.
Helena is well known for keeping away from social media, smart-phones and all the trappings of 21st century life yet still manages to survive perfectly well…Looks like we’re going to have fit in a crate of records or two in the back as The Hauff joins us for Escape Pods…

Carl has a deep knowledge of synthesizers and machines, preferring to create and perform with unique sounds rather than presets and samples. This extends to recording his own voice, which has become instantly recognisable across the many productions including the much loved – Broken Mirror.
Carl has managed to maintain a prolific output over the years with over 150 releases produced for labels such as; Warp Records, Central Processing Unit, Cultivated Electronics, Fundamental and 20/20 Vision and hundreds more remixes for artists including; Dave Clarke, Radioactive Man and former Kratwerk member Wolfgang Flur.

https://soundcloud.com/katesimko is originally from Chicago and now based in London. Kate is a classical pianist and composer as well as a DJ and electronic music producer. After years of carrying her record boxes around nightclubs and festivals Kate took a masters in composition for film at The Royal College of Music and has since gone on to score for several films including; 20 Weeks, We Believe in Dinosaurs, The Atom Smashers and most recently Underplayed. 
Kate was the first electronic musician to perform at the National Gallery in London in 2013 before founding LEO – the London Electronic Orchestra, which is an all female fusion of classical and electronic music – the group have performed at celebrated festivals and venues around the world including The Albert Hall in London. 
Kate is currently teaching electronic music at The Royal College of Music and yet still finds time to collaborate on the Opus One project with Jamie Jones…

I found this while clearing out some old CDs it is rare as it is one of very few 2020Soundsystem edits.  It cuts up Maurice Fulton's mix of House of Jealous Lovers by The Rapture.  Fernando plays a new fuzz bass track and RL cuts the beats.  Never coming out so maybe good for some collectors of oddities.....

Well it is a classic and shouldn't be touched really but I found that when playing it again recently it was kinda long for my dancefloors and also the original goes out of time just before the bassline starts which I found annoying to mix.  So I fixed that and shortened some sections, there are a couple of cheeky edit tricks I couldn't resist throwing in including a slow down but it is a pretty subtle mix strictly for DJ use.  All respects to C2 and only made available so people keep playing his amazing productions.....

"Staring out across the absolutely packed Lawn of Gottwood Festival 2024 as the sun shone through the trees on Crazy P dropping ‘Heartbreaker' I knew I had a mission to pull off. And that was to first attempt to keep the crowd and second take it from 120bpm disco and drop it off somewhere around 135 bpm electro ready for Freakenstein to come on in full swing. Not the easiest job in the world but one I felt confident to pull off knowing the Gottwood crowd, Crazy P and the Freaky one so well after being a part of all their lives for many years. It was also a rare opportunity for me to mix up everything from balearic beats, disco and deep house as ralph lawson before passing the headphones over to my alter ego EXIT PLANET EARTH to take over the controls for electro funk LIFT OFF!' - Ralph Lawson

It was a very special warm night in Ibiza when we hosted OpenLab x Pikes Presents at 528 Ibiza

Ron Trent had just left an ecstatic crowd applauding in the amphitheatre so no pressure for Ralph Lawson opening up the club inside straight after!

Being a radio station we always like to record and stream when possible so the recorder was firmly in place to capture RL Live at 528 for the first ever time.

When GLADE GLASTO got in touch wanting a DJ to bridge the gap from dub into house straight after the one & only Prince Fatty at Glade Dome, I jumped at the chance to play as LOST IN DUB for the very first time. Dub has always been my first love and the inspirartiion behind pretty much everything I do as a DJ even though I’ve spent a lifetime in house music. So, if I’m going to stand up there at Glastonbury then it can only be done properly offering some respect to the roots.

Thanks to all the teachers and dub pioneers who really deserve the attention. It was a joy to drop selections from my musical heroes including Jah Shaka - forever remembered and the sound of my youth - alongside other greats including Mad Professor, Channel One, Manasseh, Prince Fatty, Kibir La Amlak, Alpha & Omega +++ before delving into some dub house & dub techno which could have run & run...

Barbarella's near Tisno in Croatia is a truly open air club modelled on the great original 1970 & 80s outdoor venues from Italy and Ibiza like Amnesia, Peter Pan and Baia Degli Angeli. The hot starry nights suit a mix of balearic, disco and house music and it was an honour to open for Kerri Chandler at this year's Electric Elephant festival.  

Here you have my full live session recorded between 2-4am on July 7th 2016.

I always see a gig on the legendary Terrace of Space for We Love like playing in the World Cup.  You have been picked to represent on the international stage in the big arena and it's time to show the world what you got.

I always get nervous leading up to the gig and practice most of the week. Some people are surprised when I tell them that but ask any musician and they will always tell you they need to work on their chops at any stage in their career. I treat it the same way.

I'm playing just one exclusive terrace set this year on the Space Terrace so I wanted to make sure I nailed it.  I am back on September 22nd in the Discoteca for an excursion into Techno but this set will be the only one of its kind this year.  I hope you enjoy it as much as I did...
