Well for me, I was a kid before the mad flows,

Sittin' on the swings, I was daydreamin' 'till dark.
Instrumentals hittin' as hard as the truth did,

Be it lyrics, the beat, a dance, the artist,
The music video, the feature, whatever hits hardest.

Honestly? I don't fully understand it.
So much has changed, some others cannot stand it.
I mean, you got mumble rap, Lofi to look at,
Emo Rap, Jersey club, Jerk Drill, Hoodtrap.
Face tats, Xanny bars and some cups of lean.
Are we not satisfied with gettin' love and green?
And I'm not tryin' to hate on it, I just feel confused,
To all these genres and all these different points of view.

When I started, I admit I spoke with savagery
Like mainstream equaled awful automatically.
Talkin' like the mainstream stuff would never hit;
If it wasn't underground, then I wouldn't give a shit.

But then I learned that 'real rap' is subjective.

If that's the stuff you're into, then rock it proudly,
I'll try and understand these new things around me.
Enjoy these new styles, they're what makes life swell.
As for these new genres? Hell, maybe I'll try 'em myself.
