As someone who grew up playing celtic music on the harp, and who now loves edm, this is incredible!! The fusion is so artfully done!

My new song Filleted Fxsh has a cool story. It features a bit of audio I took from a lecture given years ago by the legend himself Allan MacDonald at the College of Piping. The talk was about piobaireachd, the classical music of the highland bagpipes. One of the points of the talk was to encourage players to bring more rhythm and musicality in their piobaireachd playing. At one point he quoted his friend Professor Tovey of Edinburgh University saying "music without rhythm is like a filleted fish!" meaning it has no backbone, it's floppy and loose. I loved this bit of audio and in the long tradition of samplers and beat-makers, I stole it and put it in the track (I got permission afterwards!). I feel like it's a perfect encapsulation of the philosophy behind Ramblxr.
I was also very honored to have Anna Colliton record a bodhrán solo on this track!
When I originally conceived of this track, my thought was "I wonder if I can make a hard EDM bass out of the bagpipe drones." So I did just that! I used a bunch of effects to transform the bagpipe drones into the wubby bass you hear in the recording. It took a couple of years and a lot of learning to get it just right! Thanks to Cameron Reay and Ryan Seay who helped me work on the bass toward the end of the process, and helped me layer some cool sounds on it.
