I was recently reminded of the frailty of life.  If all goes as planned, I'll depart this world first.  But as the song notes, I'll be waiting.  This is the first song in many months.  We packed out things and left SE Asia in July.  Just got our things yesterday - five months later.  Fortunately I arranged for the shipment of my guitars separately...

Originally did the main riff in this song the day after a Christmas Party and was duly hung over and intended to make an ode to vodka...but a couple of days later, I read an account of a guy who had a gambling addiction - and was struck by his misery.  Consequently, I basically made the lyrics out of his account and then added some poker jargon.  As I don't play the game, please forgive any inaccuracies.  Played in open C with a slide.  The  didgeridoo is also in C tuning.

This is a slightly revised version of a song I wrote in 2011.  Dedicated to the woman of my life.  While the song is a couple of years old, the sentiment remains the same!  Also the first song I ever played mandolin on.

BIG DISCLAIMER:  The lyrics have NOTHING to do with my beautiful wife!!!!

Any Given Day - Full version

Well, I was feeling sorry for myself as the family is in Indonesia visiting relatives while I am In Malaysia.  So, borrowing a page from Gary Sunshine's "disappointed guy" genre, I did this rendition of Todd Rungren's song, Hello It's Me - one of my favorites of his.  Meanwhile at the house, its just me and the dog....

This is a cover of a song called  "Cintaku Kan Selalu Menemanimu" by my favorite Indonesian singer Krisdayanti.  It translates into "my love will always be with you."  And of course, dedicated to my lovely wife.

About six weeks ago, my wife and I bit the bullet and took a trip to Perth Australia - where I found my first real didgeridoo (and have been driving the household nuts ever since...)  So this tune is my debut on the didgeridoo - a sound that I love and am now forever addicted to.  Special thanks to the gentlemen at Didgeridoo Breath in Freemantle and especially Sanshi who inspired me to buy (now 2 of these amazing instruments) and whose instruction on their website was superb.  And btw, Australia is a fantastic place (although Western Australia sure reminded me of Texas - but with a lot more poisonous critters...and things in the sea that want to eat or otherwise kill you)

Ok - my heartfelt apologies and thanks for folks who suffered through the first version of this.  I was unhappy with the quality of my mediocre didgredoo playing and recording, so this is version two.  Didgeridoo is still mediocre but I'm happier with the sound quality (not really sure how to mike the didgeridoo.)  Many thanks to my friends from the Cloud for the kind comments and encouragement! Time Keeps on Slipping Bye (Final version)

One never knows how a day will pan out - sometimes the unexpected happens and in the blink of an eye our lives change forever.  April was a bit like that for us (although I took a little poetic license and chose "June" for the lyrics.  So, it was time for a love song for my beautiful wife (and a mandolin love song at that.)  She always makes it a point to give an expression of love when one of us leaves - as she points out, one never knows if that will be your last good bye.  And she's right.

If you are reading this, then chances are you took some time to hear one of my songs (thank you for that!)  I'm just a recreational guitar player who has discovered the wonders of technology in home recording (although Lord knows it will take me a lifetime to figure it all out.)

SC has been an amazing experience for me and the array of talent out there in the  SC world is simultaneously humbling and  impressive.  Its been an inspiration on a variety of levels and I am particularly grateful for the support and encouragement from fellow musicians - I've tried things musically that I never would have considered 6 months ago.

Recently moved from Kuala Lumpur Malaysia and relocated to Virginia, USA with my beautiful wife who indulges me in my guitar habit (the prefect woman); five children  - soon to be six - (from 3  to 22 years old - keeping the house happily hectic) and of course our german shepherd.
