An annual fixture in the calendar for many, Solid Grooves' summer Various Artist offering welcomes a project showcasing a UK label at the forefront of the scene. Having recently returned as a family across sold-out shows in London and Bristol, late August welcomes this year's highly-anticipated drop from a wealth of SG favourites and close friends.

Offering up a combination of up-front and more minimal-leaning productions, co-founders Michael Bibi and PAWSA step out alongside residents Bassel Darwish, Blackchild (ITA), Eddy M, Ramin Rezaie and Reelow, plus 2021 guests Carloh, Detlef and Wheats, to deliver a ten-track package you won't want to sleep on.

Esteemed artist Jamie Jones is set to drop an EP titled Handy Work on his Hot Creations imprint this September. The release features three standout tracks that emulate Jamie’s distinct production skills and ear for the dancefloor. 

“Handy Work came about at the end of a studio session after working for hours on another song, I had a little jam playing with some classic diva samples I’d found. I always loved this sample used by the legend Junior Vasquez in 1994. I literally made the first version in about an hour, and when I played it out I knew I had something, the crowd reaction was killer. This track is a simple party anthem, to welcome back the parties!” - Jamie Jones 

Title track Handy Work sets the tone with sharp percussion, prominent vocal stabs and a wonky, driving bassline. Next up, Mind Meld With Spock has a stumbling groove, with hypnotic keys and a striking clap. Last up, Sunday In Paris is a blissful number, perfect for the sunrise hours with emotive and elevating chords.

Rising UK talent Ben Sterling returns to Hot Creations with the Fantasee EP, a
stunning three track release that features a remix from house heavyweight
Jansons.

Title track Fantasee is a rolling house cut, with an infectious vocal and subtle
percussion that merges with driving pads to form a track that harks back to the early
days of house music. The Jansons’ remix comes next. Warm synths fuse with an
energy-fuelled “come on” lyric, whilst the tempo of the track rustles along quickly.
Following in a similar vein to Fantasee, second original track Melania Please rounds off
the EP where whispering vocals give way to a powerful kick drum, as a delicate bleep
chimes in the background to create another pumping house record.

Ben Sterling is quickly becoming a respected artist in the house music sphere. Named
as Danny Howard’s first Future Fire guest of the year on BBC Radio 1 in 2019, the
young star is influenced by his family’s 70-80s disco collection, modern electro, plus
Chicago house and Detroit techno. At just 18, his residency for Rulin’ at London’s
Ministry of Sound marked him out as one to watch. Jansons is no stranger to the
scene. Having remixed various records of Hot Creations mainstay Richy Ahmed, his
keen eye for production has lead him to release on Four Thirty Two and Knee Deep in
Sound.
