Portugal is a key figure in Mexico City’s queer rave scene, known for transforming abandoned warehouses and underground spaces into spaces of freedom and sound. As a driving force behind GBAY – the legendary queer revival rave of 2010 – he helped shape a movement and continues to leave his mark.

Blending genres with instinct and care, his sets are built around energy, emotion and connection. He’s created countless unforgettable nights with a style that fuses old and new, always tuned to the crowd. With residencies at SHHHHH!, Pervert and Pride Together, his unmistakable sound has taken him from Mexico to New York, LA and Europe.

This set was recorded @soundspaceacademy. It weaves together tracks that have been part of recent sets alongside fresh ones that stir deep feelings. Portugal blends eras, genres and moods – from forgotten classics to new discoveries – creating a journey that reflects the energy of his longer club sets. The mix also shines a light on artists from Mexico, Spain, Chile, Brazil, England, France and Germany. A set that keeps you floating while your feet stay firmly on the dance floor.

Oscar Sanchez has been deeply immersed in the electronic music scene since the early 2000s. At the age of 16, he began his journey with a pair of Akiyama turntables and a collection of vinyl records, perfecting his skills in his bedroom while passionately recording episodes of "Techno Culture," a weekly show broadcasted on Loca FM, which he listened to obsessively on a vintage Walkman.

Throughout his career, Oscar has shared stages at festivals and renowned events alongside prominent artists including Cristian Varela, Cristian Wunch, Nuke, Pelacha, Raúl Parra, and many more. His energetic performances have resonated at iconic venues such as Family Club and Area 42, and notable festivals like the Oasis Summer Festival.

Since 2017, Oscar has expanded his craft into music production, releasing impactful tracks on respected labels including Unity Records, Dolma, Crash, Transfiguration, WRD, Vezotonic, Plastic Toys, Beats HD, Black Square, Elektrax, Xelima, and Diffuse Reality. His future projects include collaborations with Kneaded Pains, MEUK, 09Recordings, The Acid Mind, and Say What.

Oscar Sanchez’s sets are distinguished by their powerful rhythms and compelling energy, deeply rooted in the raw intensity and spirit of old-school techno.
