This month’s radio show celebrates the Carhartt WIP x Tresor collaboration, highlighting the historic Berlin and Detroit techno axis, also known as 030/313.

For the show, we welcome the Hamburg-based DJ @helena-hauff, who has created a mix documenting the legacy of Tresor, both as a club and record label, and its link to the roots of techno in Detroit.

Pulsing with wild melodies and rapid kicks, the mix was recorded using all vinyl, and features classics from the likes of Drexciya, Joey Beltram, and the late Silent Servant, as well as records from nascent producers such as UFO95. As ever, the mix is accompanied by an interview with Helena Hauff, who gives insights on her relation to the Tresor club and label as well as news on future projects. Kia is an acclaimed Australian DJ & founder of the Animalia & Cirrus labels. A highly skilled selector and open-eared music digger, who is ever searching tirelessly for lost obscurities and hidden gems. On the dancefloor her sound spans bass heavy rhythms, IDM and the deeper shades of techno.

About the mix Kia said: “This mix is a big amalgamation of sets and moods I've been playing recently on my travels in Mexico, Colombia, the US & Canada, and some shades and new styles influenced by my time in Latin America & Detroit specifically. Like a travel diary in a mix :) ”

At Monument Festival 2022 Kia gifted us with the perfect afternoon set, laying down three hours of tightly woven hypnotic grooves. This year she will be closing out Friday night playing b2b with Polygonia. Not to be missed.

The lovely folks @ RadiateFM (www.wrgp.org) had me on their show wwu02 (www.wwu02.wordpress.com) which caters to uk garage , funky , grime , and other forms of bass music.

I played a little bit of everything as my tastes are pretty eclectic. This is more dancefloor for the most part than what I normally play on WVUM.
