Releasing a debut album marks the beginning of a journey whose destination is unknown. This duo is special in several ways. Firstly, it's our first time performing in a duo setup, which is delicate and unique. Secondly, it presents a significant challenge for us as musicians, as it exposes us while granting us ample freedom in our music-making.
We both come from diverse musical backgrounds and cultures. One of us hails from the Styrian countryside in Austria, while the other originates from the bustling metropolis of Sao Paulo, Brazil. Our musical influences also vary; one is rooted in classical and folk music, while the other is steeped in jazz and large ensemble contexts.
Over the last two years, we embarked on a completely new adventure, enjoying what we can call a deep "cultural exchange". Together, we've experienced mountain hiking, traversed the Brazilian jungle, and celebrated cooking and language lessons. And let's not forget the music – one of us has been learning yodelling while the other has been diving into Brazilian music.
Despite this seemingly odd combination, our worlds share many similarities: a love for composition, experimentation, learning new things, and taking risks. This chamber music duo is the culmination of our exchange, and we're thrilled with the outcome. It offers a glimpse into our worlds and the magic of our encounter. Enjoy the music!
