Sometimes it seems almost effortlessly, how Rampa is not only detecting, but shaping the zeitgeist of clubsounds. The man has done it on various occasions. Not only that. In a no less unerring fashion he happens to find the best company to vocalize that very state of the art. It once again all comes together here on his „Les Gout“ EP. He’s teaming up with Chuala, a genre defying voice and brightly shining figure of all things contemporary, to lay down„Les Gout“, a track perfectly balancing groove, elegance and irresistible floor-appeal. In congenial addition, it also features features Keope on guitar. The tune already has become a much requested standout in Rampa’s sets, designated to become a standout in everybody else’s sets over the coming weeks and months.

Hot on the heels of Rampa and Chuala’s current original release of Les Gout, that has been turning heads and moving hips alike, here now follows a remix treatment that is no less spectacular. DBN Gogo & Felo Le Tee are luminous figures of South African’s Amapiano scene. Their interpretation of the tune is an airy pad induced, rhythmically adjusted and vocally charged rendering of the tune that will be heating up floors in its own utmost compelling way.

 Its been just a few months ago, Rampa carved his last EP-notch into the Keinemusik-release-tally. But here he goes again, delivering his second KM-offering this year, an almost prophetically headlining track called "Newborn Soul".

This tune is virtually the score to the current situation of its creator. A lurking, tension building piece thats coping without a kickdrum for more than 50 %% of its running time, just to place it in floor-shaking boost in the exact perfect moment. A percussion and synth-flavoured build-up somewhere between tool-characteristics and stylish peaktime-emphasis, thats rising like phoenix from the ashes.

"Mascha" on the flip can be appreciated as a classical Rampa. Analogue sounding, washed out intro, irresistible tribal-grooves including analogue filter and delay-rides, percussive cushioning and folkloristic chants that will invoke nothing else but rowdy floor-ecstasy in this context.

Once again tracks from the latest Argy & Mama album have been blessed by the hands of talented remixers from very different camps. This time Alan Fitzpatrick, Rampa and Mike Starr are stepping up with their contributions. Techno long runner Alan Fitzpatrick injects a good dose of dark magic to Without Me. You can't resist the beats. Vocals and synths float through the rooms. Reverb-whipped sounds keep you moving on and on. In his version of This Is Your Beat Mike Starr sets on the profound interaction of voice, rhythm and fragments of a melody. Skillfully creating his very own funk. And For Who Am I Rampa builds up a laid-back and relentlessly increasing mood. The dancers inside and outside will surely enjoy it.

Taking the release-portfolio into account, Rampa built over the last years on Keinemusik, him adding a new EP to the labels catalogue is worth every credit of trust. And this very “Trust” EP is living up to that not only by its name. It certainly offers value for money, considering KM-releases have mostly been two-trackers. There are four cuts on this one, each one following a different approach, making it also a hella versatile record.

It opens with the titeltrack, the floor-mantra within this bunch. A ruminant groove, backed by lifting and dropping notes, launching a catchy synth-figure and adding up synth-layers until all tension drops into a break that’s as curative as a talk therapy. A track that, out of unshakable serenity, unleashes an irresistible energy.

The following “Entropie” comes closest to what could be considered a Rampa classic. Percussive loops that are scooped up with even more banging and clanking – check. Lurking synthbass in the back – check. Vocalsamples with tribal descent – double check. Generally, you’ll find a whole lot of folklore in this rhythm rich affair, that continuously is jazzing up to highest ecstasy levels.

The flipside opens with “Defiled”, led by a prominent synthline, that’s going through various filter highs and lows and gets bludgeoned by some vigorously swung claps. Raw, naked floor material lacking any flourish, that seems to even fire up a jackhammer during the break.

“Headsup” is concluding this set. Triggering the smell of watered sidewalks, lit-up only by flickering neon light, immersed in the depths of delay, this latenight-story finds some redemption and warmth within the glow of its soulful vocal samples.

Out of tranquillity and contemplation, Rampa is reaching out once again. To seek contact, to give and take energy, to offer an even mind-expanding touch. All in guise of two new tracks that, quite fittingly, make this “The Touch” EP and #35 within the Keinemusik release-catalogue.
The title track on A combines all the reflective qualities of the newer Rampa-sound to a mantra that soon will be chanted collectively across dancefloors all around the world. He thoroughly is aiming for the intensifying pull into deepness of a perfect loop. He’s letting go of anything redundant like all too distracting rhythmic elements and therefore opens space for an OM-like, bass-deep interplay of synth-notes and meditational sounds in the background.
“528 Hz” on the other side borrows its name from the concept of the Solfeggio Frequencies. Within the scale of supposedly healing sounds, this very figure is known to be the frequency of repair, representing the energy of love. And an ardent declaration of love this tune is indeed. Within the sound-vocabulary of recent Rampa-releases it might be the logical next chapter after “Trust”. A synth-space- odyssey, emphasized by e-drum-highlights, pulse-quickening tribal-frenzy and a supernova-like blast of energy culminating after the break.

From 2009 on, Rampa made a name of himself through Keinemusik, his own little d.i.y.-cosmos, being not only label, but also crew of likeminded DJs, producers and friends. The teamwork within this realm has seen a serious number of productions and collaborations, particularly with fellow producer &ME, not to forget the rest of the bunch, Adam Port, Reznik and Monja. 

Besides, he’s got an array of other collaborations and releases under his belt, put out on imprints like Circoloco, Innervisions, Diynamic, Afterlife, Cocoon, Ninja Tunes / Counter Records, Strictly Rhythm, Kompakt, 2020 Vision, Freerange, Bpitch Control, Defected or Crosstown Rebels.

The events of the last few years have seen Rampa focussing more and more on the production side of things, be it studio time or the inauguration of the TEILE project – his own company to produce and distribute analogue effects, custom built for DJ-purposes. Certainly also an outlet for a slight nerdism, that includes not only studio gear, but instruments in general. When it comes to DJing itself, he is going for a less is more approach these days, choosing bookings and playing more consciously.
