Following the release of their LP sampler ‘Pissed Up’, Forum now delivers the brand new sounds of their debut album as a project. ‘Symposium’ sets the tone for their burgeoning career together, one which they launched within the ProgRAM camp, a label which has spent ten years in the game and sits as the sister-label of historic imprint RAM Records. It was only apt that they would use this name to drop their biggest body of work to date, with it symbolizing the start of Forum, although known under artist names such as The Clamps, Opsen and SKS, they’re certainly no strangers to the drum & bass genre.

The rumbling tones and homage to their home country ‘Jouvence’ kicks off proceedings, meanwhile ‘Tandoori’ with its guttural movements and ‘Steady State’ ft. Medic MC adds an urgency to the track list. The ebbing and flowing current of ‘Corruption’ comes out next, as ‘In My Mind’ continues the bass heavy offerings, and ‘The Wegger’ with Cecil Hotel introduces you to another familiar ProgRAM name. ‘Every Step Define Me’, ‘Ohka’, the inclusion of the album’s sampler and ‘Medicine Device’ meanwhile continues the high production quality and cavernous bass riffs.

Finally, LaMeduza sets themselves as a featuring artist with ethereal vocals cutting through the grinding rhythms of ‘Mesmerise’, as ‘Summer Breeze’ changes the mood with a delivery which rolls between its lush layers. So once again, it’s time to get with the ProgRAM - alongside a brand new package which signifies the talent available within the label’s remit, exemplified for Forum’s forthcoming ‘Symposium’ album.

Inscribed within the cracked desert soil was a grand runic glyph formed seemingly of purest obsidian, cauterized like a scar upon the heart of the barren landscape surrounding it. In the distance, the remains of a great wood stood silent, likewise devastated by primal flame and later petrified by the desiccating desert winds. In the ages since the great rune had been carved, scant few had dared venture into the inhospitable wasteland even to probe the rumors of magic power that was said to still lurk at its core. Those who did were visited by visions of terror and carnage that lacked even the comfort of decay at the ends of those who experienced the summoning of The Ancient, a being so foolishly bound in rage and desperation by a people long lost to the sands of time and the desert alike.

In these visions, the truths of that time were revealed to those whose eyes were so forced into the past by the latent magics of the land. There had been no victory here amidst the sands that now incorporated particles of human bone, no honor claimed by the brave warriors who fought on either side of this dual conflict, whose blood had boiled and melted their flesh beneath the resplendent bronze of their armor as it shone under the rays of the sun. The Ancient, brought to this plane of existence solely of malice, ignorance, and ego, had become itself suffused by the emotion of its summoners. So much greater was its power that they too were annihilated within its divine flame alongside their enemies and all of the bounties of the land for which they fought. Forever since had it lain barren, bereft of even a single drop of rain in the centuries that had passed, for those who had sought to wield the power of the gods as a weapon, no quarter could ever be given upon this once verdant land of their holy creation.

SCREAMARTS summons a foreboding set of sonics for his DUALITY EP, the Austrian artist’s latest tale within EATBRAIN’s codex and catalog. Drawing inspiration from the dual justifications of human conflicts and the suffering that they bring about, SCREAMARTS presents DUALITY as a cautionary tale of the woe that has long befallen all those of humankind who perpetrate such conflicts no matter their moral aim.

In the long history of recorded music, tales abound of sonic sequences possessed of a supernatural power. Their supposed abilities vary widely, from the summoning of malevolent spirits when played in reverse to the hypnotizing of the listener’s mind or the implantation of subversive suggestions hidden within their soundwaves. Such stories are quite often flights of pure fantasy bred from the fears and delusions of those who position themselves against certain musical stylings, but within their tellings lie small grains of truth - for there do exist such sequences of sonic power, waiting in fragmentary records to be unleashed upon the world once more.

Musical scales have been crafted to prevent the accidental genesis of such powerful sounds, and even those who possess partial knowledge scarcely seek to pursue their full and terrible truth. Chief among all of these is the most harrowing of all, a bone-chilling tonal ratio that, like the wail of the mythical banshee spirit, saps the very life from the bodies of its victims as its resonances pierce the very brain that senses them. Though once impossible to recreate, the correct sequence of failures in modern electronics now renews the possibility of its generation upon the mortal world. Beware to the listener! For the KILLA SOUND lurks just behind the speaker coil.
