I created a mix of Avalum Naanum from Acham Enbadhu Madamaiyada and Innum Konja Neram from Maryan, both composed by A.R.Rahman. When I listened to Avalum Naanum, I got reminded of Innum Konja Neram and wanted to create a mix. I reduced the pitch of Innum Konja Neram by a semitone to match Avalum Naanum and adjusted its tempo. Listen to this mix of 2 lovely melodies and share it if you like it.

This is my mashup of Ulagam Oruvanukka from Kabali and Maaro Maaro from Boys. When I heard the Ulagam Oruvanukka song from Kabali, I got reminded of the Maaro Maaro song as the beats were similar. Ulagam song is in Fm and Maaro is in Gm. I reduced the pitch of Maaro to Fm and adjusted its tempo to suit the other song. Enjoy this mashup and share this track if you like it. A R Rahman once said in an interview:

"I once composed a lullaby called “Thee thee” and played it to Mani Ratnam for the 1993 Tamil film Thiruda Thiruda. He said : “Why don’t you combine it with the sound of a storm?” “But the melody will get spoiled.” “No, try it.”
We added a drum roll that sounded like a cyclone erupting and then subsiding — the music suddenly becomes tranquil and then rises again. The final song looked very exciting on the screen. For almost four years, I didn’t know if I liked it. Now I do. Directors like Mani Ratnam effectively combine contrasting musical moods. A musician doesn’t necessarily think like that."

So I got thinking how the song would have been just as a melody without the fiery drum rolls and interludes. Here is the result. A shortened "Thee Thee" originally composed by ARR as a lullaby.

Here is my ringtone mix of Endhira Logathu and Raajali from 2.0. Both were of the same tempo and same key. So it was easy to do the mix.

This is a mix of the Uthira Uthira song from Pon Manickavel by D Imman and Ding Dong Kovil Mani from Ji by Vidhyasagar. Both these songs are in Raag Rasikapriya and have the same feel. They were in the same tonic and I had to adjust the tempo alone.

This is a mashup of Pachamala Poovu from Kizhakku Vaasal and Paadha Kolusu from Thirumathi Pazhanichami. Both songs have similar feel, similar scale, similar rhythm with almost the same tempo. Probably the director of the Paatha Kolusu song wanted a song similar to Pachamala Poovu. The tune is different though, just the feel is the same.

Here is my mashup of Chinna Raasave from Walter Vetrivel and Kannathula Vai from Captain. When I listened to Kannathula Vai composed by Sirpi, it was clear that the inspiration was from Chinna Raasave composed by Ilaiyaraaja. The rhythm, the scale, the tempo all had close similarities to the original. However the tune is original, it is just the scale and rhythm that was the inspiration.

Is Sollamale Yaar Paathathu from Poove Unakkaga (music by S.A.Rajkumar) inspired from Kannalane from Bombay (music by A.R.Rahman)? Though the melodies are different, the musical arrangement and a lit bit of the structure does seem to be inspired. Listen and decide for yourself. Both songs were 5 semitones apart. So I had to change the pitch for both the songs to bring together. And the voice sounds quite bad due to the pitch changes. Apologies for that.

Sollamale inspired from Kannalane?

A mashup of Hey Rama from Rangeela composed by A.R.Rahman and Indha Nimisham from Hello composed by Deva. It is clear from the arrangement, the raga chosen and the lead singer of Hariharan that Deva has taken some elements from the original song by Rahman though the tune is different.
