I teach MS band and we just started this today during a 1 week summer band camp. From Shirley’s theme to the hopeful 2nd theme to its twisted variant this compostion is painfully amd beautifully evocative.

Came across this piece today and I am definitely starting it with my middle school next week. I have enough mallet players for all the parts, but my school doesn't own a vibraphone or crotales. The kids have bell kits and my school has 1 wooden xylophone. I have no budget so I can't go out and buy these instruments. Any suggestions from the man himself? Loved doing Armory with my kids last year!!!

played this at a combined concert with three schools, sounded absolutely wonderful this song is amazing

our band played this last year. when our band director showed it to us for the first time at least a dozen people cried. so beautiful and moving. I got the flute solo and loved every moment of it, and the rest of the song. one of my forever favorites

I didnt get to play this a more better band got to play this but I feel like this songs is really good and I really cant let it go
