"Molgera" is one of my favourite pieces of music from what is one of the best soundtracks to feature in a Legend of Zelda game. It's so distinct and retains so many elements which I don't think you could really change or switch out without throwing off the vibe of the piece entirely, that I couldn't really remix it. So I simply just updated the sound and added extra bits here and there.

The entire thing was sequenced and arranged from scratch. The removal of melodies and particular layers towards the end was done purposely to show that. (Just in case haters wanna say 'HE JUST OVERDUBBED THE ORIGINAL MUSIC!')

I ended up making a mashup of Afriyoncé’s “Find Your Way Back” from The Lion King: The Gift / Black Is King and “Leave Alone (UK House Mix)” from Street Fighter III: 2nd Impact. I put this together before Beyoncé’s single “Break My Soul” was released. So it was a strange foreshadowing that it ended up being a house song and introducing us to Oontzyoncé.

Beyoncé x Street Fighter III - Find Your Way Back (Random J Mashup)

I had an idea. I ran with it. And here it is. A mashup of Beyoncé’s “America Has a Problem” and Baby-D’s “Let Me Be Your Fantasy”. This was oddly enough inspired by the memes everybody kept putting together of videos of people from the 80s and 90s dancing in the clubs to Beyoncé’s epidemic pussy anthem.

“America Has a Problem” is just a full on 90s dance track, and it surprisingly goes with pretty much any dance track from that era. But something about hearing it over Breakbeat / Drum & Bass just felt like something that would work. AND IT DID. “Let Me Be Your Fantasy” is a club classic. So hopefully sluts from the 90s who remember the song feel nostalgic and will wear out a rug to it.

I try to think of things to write here, but the truth is I never know what to say about these mashups, because there’s rarely an interesting story. A lot of these ideas come to me so randomly. And then before I know it, the mashup is done. And then I sit on it for months and wonder if I should even bother to upl-

An ‘interesting story’ (if you will) of this mashup actually has nothing to do with me. The song “Alien Superstar” is mashed with here is by Honey Dijon, who is actually one of the co-writers and producers of “Alien Superstar”. This wasn’t my intent. I just happened to hear one of her songs and thought ‘OH’. Then I had an idea which was all about the sound of the song and not that it was Honey Dijon.

But if she comes across this, I hope she likes it.

I have to admit, “Alien Superstar” wasn’t a song I was a fan of when I first started playing Renaissance. But I got why everybody else was falling over it. And it’s grown on me a lot since.

Ya know what? Aside from season 7 of RuPaul’s Drag being really good, the album ‘Realness’ which RuPaul released to promote it was actually kinda decent. And there are a couple of songs on it that I genuinely like and play, one of which is “Color Me Love”. The whole of Realness is based on 90s club and house music, which is why it immediately came to mind when I was thinking of songs I could mash songs off of Renaissance with. I never thought it'd be “Cuff It”, but...here we are bitch

Marvel super heroes featured an amazing soundtrack. One which I feel is often overlooked. All of the characters had great, memorable themes. But if I had to pick one of my favourites it would most certainly have to be Doctor Doom's. It wasn't the kind of theme you would expect a metal man of death in a green dress to have. But it was such a great piece of music which suited his kick ass stage. For years I'd admired the theme and never once considered giving my take on it. But one night I had the entire arrangement in my head, so I did my best to get it out and materialise into what you hear now.

This is completely different from any remix I've done before in terms of sound, because it focuses more on orchestral sounds and has no elements of dance to it whatsoever. I wanted to capture that sense of serenity and being underwater which the original version evoked. I figured, what better way to do that than with strings.

Most of my compositions start off with the bass. I did not have Chun-Li's theme in mind when I first has the bass down for this. But somewhere along the line Chun-Li crept into my mind, and then into the mix. And here we have it.
