Berghain resident DJ nd_baumecker has been a key voice in house & techno for years. As part of Barker & Baumecker, he has put out essential EPs and LPs on Ostgut Ton. Snax is a musician, singer, songwriter, producer, performer and DJ who brings real character to everything he does, releasing extensively on his Random Records label and many others. The pair have previously teamed up for remixes, bootleg and otherwise, and now expand on that with this inventive release. Says the artist of this new release, “‘Mandemic' sprang from the concept of what it might be like if / when our world’s current situation became eroticised, perhaps even evolving into a queer sex party. The only name for such a party would have to be ‘Mandemic', of course, and Snecker quickly stepped up to deliver its theme song.” It occurred to Snax that he knew another musician friend who would simply love to be on board with this, and that would be none other than Khan, the other half of their disco duo Captain Comatose. Together they provide the lyrical backdrop to this throbbing track for future dark rooms. ‘Mandemic’ is a sexy house tune with bumping drums and rubbery bass. Steamy vocals add intimacy while the pixelated leads lash about the mix next to splashes of acid and plenty of FX. Veteran DJ, songwriter and illustrator Pete Ellison remixes with a more trippy feel. The drums are chunky, and the chords jump about while dripping with naughtiness. Fauve Records boss and lifelong crate digger Romain FX then flips the tune into a stripped-back jack track with a driving bassline. Expressive melodies remain in place to ensure maximum impact on the floor. The second original, 'Things We Got,' is full of flavour from the pulsing bass, the angular drums and sprinkles of cosmic synth. It's warm and humid with an ever-evolving arrangement that keeps you on your toes. ‘Mandemic’ is a typically charming and characterful new take on house music from Freeride Millenium, and once again features striking artwork from Daniel Rajcsanyi.

The room was dark, only lit by flickering candles that lined the walls. The place was like a maze with little corners and crevices you could get lost in, it could become impossible to find your way out. There were little rules, but those who came respected one another; they looked out for one another. But ultimately, down here below the surface freedom reined supreme...

Snecker is the coming together of Berghain resident and Barker collaborator nd_baumecker and Random Records boss, musician and singer Snax. After releasing remixes and bootlegs together, the pair embark on their first release 'Mandemic', which is built around the concept of "what it might be like if / when our world’s current situation became eroticised, perhaps even evolving into a queer sex party." Enlisting the help of Khan, the other half of Snax's duo Captain Comatose, the pair lace the pulsing house rhythms and acid lines with sensual vocals, which get reworked on the flip by DJ, songwriter and illustrator Pete Ellison and Fauve Records founder Romain FX.

In his „Going Places“ mix for Mutant Radio, legendary Cologne DJ Hans Nieswandt, now living in Seoul, takes you on a wild and elegant ride through nine decades of (mostly dance) music, connecting the dots between very different times, cities and styles. The oldest track is from the 40ies, the newest from last month. There is jazz, hippie music, post punk, hiphop, even some footwork, some queer Berlin stuff, quite a bit of Detroit electro, assorted slow jams, plus a few homemade disco edits of personal non-disco favorites. Everything mixed, blended, cut and freely associated, with care, love and class. Enjoy the experience.

Originally recorded on cassette and released in a limited edition of 300 in 1996, 'Hat, Hair Lipstick' was Snax's (then DJ Snax) flagship release on Random. It was produced on two coasts with a motley collection of music gear, resulting in an ambitious mix of hi and lo fi, DIY rock, sampled beats, jazz meets handbag house, and noise.
