“Come on, we- we should just get back to the apartment for the night.”

The two of them were stuck rushing through the rain, still trying to find something or make sense over what they had already seen. If Novella was like that, then… “Uh, Liam?”

“What?”

“Is the rain getting worse?”

Sure enough, what was once walking on wet ground was now actively trudging through it, already ankle-deep. The two of them began to panic as the water continued to rise, Liam doing his best to hold onto his armless partner before soon, they were completely submerged. After a moment of swimming, they almost seemed to bump into a wall of pure water- no, it felt like they were in something now. And despite being stuck underwater, neither of them seemed to be drowning, though that only does them so well- Thomas was still struggling to get around wherever they were. Liam tried to call out to Thomas to swim upwards, only to feel something weighing him down.

He began to panic more, the water distorting his voice as he saw something- and Thomas only had enough time to realize what he was pointing at before falling into a portal, separating the two. It wasn’t being trapped underwater that was the problem.

It was what they were trapped with.

[S02 05] 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐒𝐊𝐘 𝐈𝐒 𝐅𝐀𝐋𝐋𝐈𝐍𝐆.

It wasn't easy accepting that they had no way to save them. To Thomas it was at least a familiar sensation of regret, having escaped a series of murders but practically nothing more than an internal witness to the whole thing, but Liam...that was at least seven months of his life even more down the drain than they had been before. And he didn't even really have somewhere to go- everyone but Thomas and Sketchpad still thought that he was dead and who was going to believe that he had been kidnapped and forced to compete in two separate game shows? There wasn't even any leads- Airy and everyone from two but him and Thomas were dead, and he only vaguely remembered talking to Soda Bottle about where they lived and with everyone...well, it didn't really stick in the long term.

But it wasn't hopeless, at least as much as what the two of them thought- Sketchpad was the one to point out that even with everything, they still had the music to use as proof and they could probably reach out to the other contestants through that website Texty had found. It would still take a bit of time to get used to...having actual lives again though- they would still get uncomfortable when in one room for a long time or jump at the sound of tearing paper, but slowly, surely, the small steps added up over time.

Liam was able to get back in contact with the others from ONE and those from contests that also had people kidnapped, everyone was...very surprised by what they had heard happened to Airy for two. They all agreed he deserved it, but the conversation was still hard to get through on all sides. Even between the people from ONE not all of them kept in touch, but it was a big help to give closure to those effected...

There were still a lot of questions the two of them knew were never going to be answered. Why were they all brought to be in two? Why did the others have to die, they didn't even really die fairly, they were doomed the moment Airy brought them in. They still felt responsible in a sense, even if they weren't the ones to ever pull the trigger, but as they slowly got back into the swing of things...maybe they didn't need the answers. If it meant they could just...be happy again?

...It wasn't exactly what they would call a "happy ending", but to be able to hope for one again was a good compromise for now.
