My entry for Sample Pack Contest XVII. A quiet meditation under the sunlit trees in the summer heat & breeze. Komorebi is a Japanese term without an English equivalent, referring to "sunlight that's filtered and scattered through trees", which is what I imagined as I made this.

every summer, my family and i would travel to an island to visit my surrogate grandparents.

i had this image in my brain of the island being the most perfect place on the planet. but when i returned there years later, i came to realize that such a place had never existed.

the land itself, the nature, was still beautiful, but the inhabitants were corrupting it. it wasn’t the haven that i remembered, except for my surrogate grandparents, who remain the light of the island.

i still love the island, but my idea of it has eroded. nothing is perfect.

this album is a bittersweet ode to a beloved place that has become unfamiliar over time.

This is a new alternative soul kind of instrumental I just finished producing, it includes a variety of well worked and timed sounds including timeless Rhodes keys, strings, guitars electric bass and synths creating a brilliant modern but nostalgic and classic funky fusion track that could be fitting just as easy in the 90s or 80s. 

Cooler Nights

Trying to make an AnimalCrossing-sounding track. No actual AC instruments used, just some MIDI sounds and old drum machine samples and some synths. I think it gets close!
