it is a song about being young and stupidly in love, being much older and stupidly in love, and reflecting on what those things meant to me then and mean to me now. field recording taken outside my front door this summer!

My track for The Story of MIDIport! This is actually based on a much older sketch from late 2020. Throughout the first half of the track you can hear chopped up waves sounds. This was in the original sketch, and I was inspired by Nokia's Feather alert which I heard for the first time back then, which also uses that effect.

Fast forward to 2024, and I've started the MIDIport project. After some pondering, I eventually decide to take that older sketch, adapt it to Nokia's large bank and build upon the composition further. The 11/8 section is actually reworked from a sketch I had previously written for this project. As for the composition itself, it's like jazzy R&B with some influences from 70s electronica and IDM. I hope you enjoy it!

Working with Beatnik Editor + loopMIDI is a pain though. :(

Zackery Wilson’s SNESQUE II is the follow-up/sequel to the SNESQUE, once again uniting Super Nintendo soundfonts (collections of samples from original Super Nintendo video games) and modern-day audio production (e.g. EQ, delay, reverb, filters, etc.). SNESQUE II is an evolution of the first album’s sound, featuring a more thoroughly-produced, “next-gen” approach to composition and sound design, while maintaining the original formula.

"This Is ‘Y I’m One-Shot [Tales of Phantasia]" is the 8th track on the album.
